  1. 1. Representation Learning and Information Fusion : Applications in Biomedical Image Processing

    Author : Elisabeth Wetzer; Nataša Sladoje; Fred Hamprecht; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Representation Learning; Texture Descriptors; Equivariant Neural Networks; Contrastive Learning; Image Classification; Image Registration; Image Retrieval; Digital Pathology; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Abstract : In recent years Machine Learning and in particular Deep Learning have excelled in object recognition and classification tasks in computer vision. As these methods extract features from the data itself by learning features that are relevant for a particular task, a key aspect of this remarkable success is the amount of data on which these methods train. 2. 2. Image Processing and Analysis Methods for Biomedical Applications

    Author : Eva Breznik; Robin Strand; Filip Malmberg; Joel Kullberg; Håkan Ahlström; Alejandro Frangi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multiple comparisons; image segmentation; image retrieval; deep learning; medical image analysis; magnetic resonance imaging; whole-body imaging; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Abstract : With new technologies and developments medical images can be acquired more quickly and at a larger scale than ever before. However, increased amount of data induces an overhead in the human labour needed for its inspection and analysis. READ MORE

  3. 3. Topics in Content Based Image Retrieval : Fonts and Color Emotions

    Author : Martin Solli; Reiner Lenz; Jan Erik Solem; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; image analysis; content based image retrieval; font recognition; color emotions; Image analysis; Bildanalys;

    Abstract : Two novel contributions to Content Based Image Retrieval are presented and discussed. The first is a search engine for font recognition. The intended usage is the search in very large font databases. The input to the search engine is an image of a text line, and the output is the name of the font used when printing the text. 4. 4. Retrieval practice and individual differences : exploring factors relevant to the benefit and use of retrieval practice

    Author : Frida Bertilsson; Tova Stenlund; Anna Sundström; Shana Carpenter; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; retrieval practice; testing effect; individual differences; cognition; personality; learning; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : When students are studying outside of the classroom, they tend to use learning strategies that research has found to be relatively ineffective. This is problematic as a relatively large proportion of students do not finish compulsory school and/or upper-secondary school with sufficient grades. READ MORE

  5. 5. Efficient Image Retrieval with Statistical Color Descriptors

    Author : Linh Viet Tran; Reiner Lenz; Björn Kruse; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; color properties; images; statistical; content-based image retrieval CBIR ; non-parametric density estimators; image database; Kernel; Gram-Schmidt; geometry-based; Information technology; Informationsteknologi;

    Abstract : Color has been widely used in content-based image retrieval (CBIR) applications. In such applications the color properties of an image are usually characterized by the probability distribution of the colors in the image. READ MORE
