  1. 16. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research

    Author : Rafeef Abu-Gharbieh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-linear diffusion filtering; optically dense sprays; curve evolution propagation; image sequence analysis; laser induced fluorescence; geodesic paths; level sets; LIF; optical density; spray characterization; flame propagation; laser; particle image velocimetry; spectroscopy; combustion engines; spray diagnostics; Mie scattering; flame fronts; laser attenuation; tracking; combustion diagnostics; curve matching; combustion; laser sheet imaging; PIV; time resolved imaging; segmentation;

    Abstract : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future. 2. 17. Improving image quality in multi-channel printing - multilevel halftoning, color separation and graininess characterization

    Author : Paula Žitinski Elías; Sasan Gooran; Daniel Nyström; Marius Pedersen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Color printing is traditionally achieved by separating an input image into four channels (CMYK) and binarizing them using halftoning algorithms, in order to designate the locations of ink droplet placement. Multi-channel printing means a reproduction that employs additional inks other than these four in order to augment the color gamut (scope of reproducible colors) and reduce undesirable ink droplet visibility, so-called graininess. 3. 18. Vortex generators and turbulent boundary layer separation control

    Author : Ola Lögdberg; Henrik Alfredsson; Per-Åge Krogstad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; turbulent boundary layer separation; adverse pressure gradient; vortex generators; control of separation; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Boundary layer separation is usually an unwanted phenomenon in most technical applications as for instance on airplane wings, on ground vehicles and in internal flows such as diffusers. If separation occurs it leads to loss of lift, higher drag and results in energy losses. READ MORE

  4. 19. Separation of Water and Fat Signal in Magnetic Resonance Imaging : Advances in Methods Based on Chemical Shift

    Author : Johan Berglund; Joel Kullberg; Lars Johansson; Håkan Ahlström; Zhi-Pei Liang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic resonance imaging; digital image reconstruction; chemical shift imaging; water and fat separation; Dixon method; fat suppression; quantitative MRI; whole-body MRI; fatty acid composition; fat unsaturation; triglycerides; adipose tissue; liver fat; T2* mapping; Radiology; Radiologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most important diagnostic tools of modern healthcare. The signal in medical MRI predominantly originates from water and fat molecules. READ MORE

  5. 20. Separation of plastics by flotation

    Author : Huiting Shen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : This thesis analyses and summarises the importance of plastics waste recycling and plastics waste separation, presents an innovative principle for plastics flotation, and provides various methods for the separation of plastics mixtures. The objective is to understand the mechanisms for selective flotation separation of plastics, get plastics mixtures separated and enable more plastics wastes to be recycled. READ MORE
