1. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Different B cell Lymphomas : With Focus on Cellular Origin and Antigen Selection
Abstract : B cell lymphoma (BCL) comprises a biologically and clinically heterogeneous group of tumors deriving from different stages of B cell development. The immunoglobulin (Ig) variable heavy chain (VH) gene rearrangement is unique for each BCL and can be used to reveal cellular origin, to study signs of antigen selection and to quantify tumor cell load. 2. Regulation of immunoglobulin transcription
Abstract : Each Ig V-region has its own upstream promoter and the promoter of a mature Ig gene is thereby selected during the V(D)J recombination process. Upon comparison, it is evident that only one transcription factor binding site, the octamer, is preserved within all promoters. READ MORE

3. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia : Characterization of New Prognostic and Biological Subsets
Abstract : Recent studies have shown that the somatic mutation status of the immunoglobulin (Ig) VH genes can divide chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) into two prognostic subsets, since cases with mutated VH genes display superior survival compared to unmutated cases. Biased VH gene usage has also been reported in CLL which may reflect antigen selection. READ MORE

4. Stress and the Offspring : Adaptive Transgenerational Effects of Unpredictability on Behaviour and Gene Expression in Chickens (Gallus gallus)
Abstract : Environmental stress has shown to affect both the exposed individuals and the development of their offspring. Generally, it is thought that the stressed organism responds to stress by trying to adapt to it. READ MORE

5. Studies of immunoglobulin light chains in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): new insight into the evolution of immunoglobulin genes
Abstract : In this thesis, the structure and the expression of immunoglobulin (Ig) light chain genes were studied in rainbow trout and including an evolutionary perspective. A novel Ig light chain locus (IgL2) was identified and characterized. READ MORE
