  1. 1. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Different B cell Lymphomas : With Focus on Cellular Origin and Antigen Selection

    Author : Mia Thorsélius; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Christer Sundström; Anders Rosén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; B cell lymphoma; Immunoglobulin; V gene; somatic hypermutation; antigen selection; quantitative PCR; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : B cell lymphoma (BCL) comprises a biologically and clinically heterogeneous group of tumors deriving from different stages of B cell development. The immunoglobulin (Ig) variable heavy chain (VH) gene rearrangement is unique for each BCL and can be used to reveal cellular origin, to study signs of antigen selection and to quantify tumor cell load. 2. 2. Regulation of immunoglobulin transcription

    Author : David Liberg; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; N-substituted benzamides; NFkB; transcription; B cells; immunoglobulin; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : Each Ig V-region has its own upstream promoter and the promoter of a mature Ig gene is thereby selected during the V(D)J recombination process. Upon comparison, it is evident that only one transcription factor binding site, the octamer, is preserved within all promoters. READ MORE

  3. 3. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia : Characterization of New Prognostic and Biological Subsets

    Author : Gerard Tobin; Richard Rosenquist; Christer Sundström; Anna Laurell; Nicholas Chiorazzi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; immunoglobulin genes; VH3-21; CDR3; P2X7; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : Recent studies have shown that the somatic mutation status of the immunoglobulin (Ig) VH genes can divide chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) into two prognostic subsets, since cases with mutated VH genes display superior survival compared to unmutated cases. Biased VH gene usage has also been reported in CLL which may reflect antigen selection. READ MORE

  4. 4. Stress and the Offspring : Adaptive Transgenerational Effects of Unpredictability on Behaviour and Gene Expression in Chickens (Gallus gallus)

    Author : Daniel Nätt; Per Jensen; Berry Spruijt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Chicken; Red junglefowl; Domestication; Epigenetics; Transgenerational; Inheritance; Gene expression; Microarray; qRT-PCR; Immunogenetics; Immunoglobulin; Estradiol; Steriod hormones; Prenatal stress; Epigenetic inheritance; Adaptation; Stress; Behaviour; Ethology of domestic animals; Husdjurens etologi;

    Abstract : Environmental stress has shown to affect both the exposed individuals and the development of their offspring. Generally, it is thought that the stressed organism responds to stress by trying to adapt to it. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies of immunoglobulin light chains in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): new insight into the evolution of immunoglobulin genes

    Author : Sirje Timmusk; Greg Warr; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Immunoglobulin genes; gene organization; evolution; comparative immunology; promoter; rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss ; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär immunologi; Molecular Immunology;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the structure and the expression of immunoglobulin (Ig) light chain genes were studied in rainbow trout and including an evolutionary perspective. A novel Ig light chain locus (IgL2) was identified and characterized. READ MORE
