  1. 1. Proteomic Analysis of Urinary Bladder Cancer Aiming for Novel Biomarkers

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Mårten Lindén; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; urine; APOE; FGB; GAL1; LRG1; POLR1E; SERPINA1; STMN1; TOP2A; biomarker; diagnostic biomarker; prognostic biomarker; predictive biomarker; mass spectrometry; western blot; dot blot; immunohistochemistry; IHC; tissue microarray; TMA; urothelium; antibody; antibody-based; urinblåsecancer; biomarkör; diagnos; prognos; urin; proteomik; masspektrometri; immunohistokemi; antikroppar; Molecular Biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : Urinary bladder cancer is a heterogeneous disease appearing in different forms, e.g. non-muscle invasive and muscle invasive. For all variants, the expression of proteins is interesting to analyze for diagnostic, predictive, prognostic and drug targeting purposes, since it reflects the altered gene expression causing the cancer. 2. 2. The optic tectum of the salmon:site of interaction of neurohormonal photoperiodic and neural visual signals. The GABAergic neuronal system and melatonin receptors

    University dissertation from Department of Zoology, Lund University

    Author : Marie Anzelius; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal anatomy; melatonin receptors; GABA; optic tectum; fish; brain; animal morphology; Djurs anatomi och morfologi;

    Abstract : Melatonin is a neurohormone which mediates photoperiodic signals from the pineal organ to the brain. GABA (g-aminobutyric acid) is the major inhibitory transmitter in the central nervous system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Distribution and function of TRP ion channels in primary sensory neurons

    University dissertation from Helena Axelsson

    Author : Helena Sturesson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; histokemi; cytokemi; vävnadskultur; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; cytochemistry; Histology; Skin; Immunohistochemistry; Cannabinoid receptor 1 CB1 ; Pain; Primary sensory neurons; TRP ion channels; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Histologi;

    Abstract : It is frequently argued that cannabinoids exert part of their analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects via activation of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor located on TRPV1-expressing primary sensory nerve fibres in peripheral tissues. However, we find no evidence of CB1 receptor immunoreactivity on nerve fibres in rat or mouse hindpaw skin and mesenteric artery. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental vitreoretinal surgery in the rabbit eye - electrophysiology and morphology

    University dissertation from Department of Ophthalmology, Lund University

    Author : Karin Gjörloff; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oftalmologi; Ophtalmology; retinectomy; GFAP; PKC; rabbit; vitrectomy; focal laser photocoagulation; full-field electroretinography; multifocal electroretinography;

    Abstract : The field of vitreoretinal surgery has expanded greatly over the last decades. A continuous refinement of surgical methods and instruments has increased the number of treatable retinal disorders. Vitrectomy, retinectomy and laser treatment are all part of the modern surgical arsenal. READ MORE

  5. 5. Unusual vascular responses in the umbilical artery, mediated by endothelin-like receptors

    University dissertation from Inscan, Copenhagen, DENMARK

    Author : Maria Laursen; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; sexualitet; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; unusual vascular responses; endothelin-like receptors; human umbilical artery; reproduktion;

    Abstract : In this present study the population of endothelin-like receptors in the human umbilical artery was examined in vitro in different parts of the umbilical cord. Immunohistochemistry revealed ETB receptors in the endothelium and an uneven distribution of ETA receptors in the smooth muscle of the arterial wall, when comparing different parts of the umbilical artery.
