  1. 1. Exosomes : immunomodulators in cancer and therapy

    Author : Stefanie Hiltbrunner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Exosomes are nano-sized membrane vesicles derived from the late endosomal compartment. They are capable of transferring proteins, lipids and RNA between cells. B cell and dendritic cell (DC)-derived exosomes express major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I and II, as well as costimulatory molecules (CD80/86) and can initiate T cell responses. 2. 2. Metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamide compounds, a group of synthetic immunomodulators, in various species

    Author : Helen Tuvesson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymologi; Proteiner; enzymology; Proteins; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; pharmacokinetics; enzyme kinetics; quinoline 3-carboxamides; Keywords: Metabolism; cytochrome P450;

    Abstract : Cytochrome P450 (CYP) is involved in the metabolism of the majority of clinically used drugs. We have studied the CYP mediated metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamides, a group of synthetic immunomodulators in liver microsomal preparations from various species. READ MORE

  3. 3. A novel principle for immunomodulator delivery with hematopoietic cells as vehicles Focus on soluble TNF-receptor gene expression, targeting to secretory lysosomes and regulated secretion

    Author : Ying Gao; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellulära vätskor; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; Medicin människa och djur ; Haematology; Medicine human and vertebrates ; neutrophil; granule; secretory lysosome; sorting; phagocytosis; degranulation.; mast cell; hematopoietic cell; inflammation; soluble TNF receptor;

    Abstract : The goal of this research is to use hematopoietic cells as vehicles for targeting transgenic immunomodulators to the inflammatory sites. The work presented was focused on the anti-inflammatory soluble TNF receptor. A transmembrane soluble TNF receptor (sTNFR1) construct was expressed in hematopoietic cell lines. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of bacterial genotoxins on immune modulation, chronic inflammation and cancer development

    Author : Anna Bergonzini; Teresa Frisan; Maria Fällman; Steffen Backert; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : The intestinal microbiome of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and colorectal cancer patients is enriched in genotoxin-producing bacteria, which cause DNA damage in the host cells.Genotoxins have recently been identified as a novel family of effectors produced by pathogenic and commensal bacteria. 5. 5. Chrohn's disease : aspects of epidemiology, clinical course, and faecal calprotectin

    Author : Yaroslava Zhulina; Jonas Halfvarson; Curt Tysk; Hans Strid; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Crohn’s disease; epidemiology; faecal calprotectin; Medicine; Medicin;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to study epidemiological and clinical changes in the natural history of Crohn’s disease, its phenotype, the need for surgery and pharmacological therapy over time, as well as the role of faecal calprotectin as a biomarker of pathophysiology and disease course.An increased incidence and prevalence of Crohn’s disease was seen in the period 1963-2010.
