  1. 1. Environmental Impact from Wave Energy Converters : Underwater Noise

    Author : Kalle Haikonen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Wave energy conversion is a potentially clean and sustainable form ofenergy conversion with no emissions of gases or liquids during operation.There are other environmental issues that need to be taken in consideration.The deployment of a wave power farm will contribute with new surface formarine organisms to colonize. 2. 2. Human response to wind turbine noise : perception, annoyance and moderating factors

    Author : Eja Pedersen; Sten Ljunggren; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Noise; Environmental exposure; Wind; Audio-visual interaction; Low-level noise exposure; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; wind turbines; noise annoyance; sound perception; audio-visual interaction; low-level noise exposure;

    Abstract : Aims: The aims of this thesis were to describe and gain an understanding of how people who live in the vicinity of wind turbines are affected by wind turbine noise, and how individual, situational and visual factors, as well as sound properties, moderate the response.Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in a flat, mainly rural area in Sweden, with the objective to estimate the prevalence of noise annoyance and to examine the dose-response relationship between A-weighted sound pressure levels (SPLs) and perception of and annoyance with wind turbine noise. 3. 3. Underwater radiated noise from Point Absorbing Wave Energy Converters : Noise Characteristics and Possible Environmental Effects

    Author : Kalle Haikonen; Jan Sundberg; Sigray Peter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Wave energy conversion; renewable energy; environmental impact; marine ecology; underwater noise;

    Abstract : The conversion of wave energy into electrical energy has the potential to become a clean and sustainable form of renewable energy conversion. However, like all forms of energy conversion it will inevitably have an impact on the marine environment, although not in the form of emissions of hazardous substances (gases, oils or chemicals associated with anticorrosion). 4. 4. Noise from wind turbines

    Author : Olivier Fégeant; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; masking; vibration transmission; diffraction; ambient noise; pseudo-noise; cylindrical shell. Perturbation methods; structural mobility; axoustic outdoor measurement; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : A rapid growth of installed wind power capacity is expectedin the next few years. However, the siting of wind turbines ona large scale raises concerns about their environmental impact,notably with respect to noise. READ MORE

  5. 5. Noise Aspects of some Si-based One Port Devices and Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Hassan Ouacha; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; etching; Schottky contacts; noise; fluctuations; generation; mobility; noise spectroscopy; recombination; p-n diodes; carbon nanotubes; thermal reaction; junction; defects; co-sputtering; irradiation; interface states; low frequency noise;

    Abstract : The p-n junctions and Schottky diodes based on Si1-xGex and SiC are of great importance in modern electronic applications, such as microwave detectors and mixers. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have appeared recently as an attractive new class of materials with a reduced dimensionality, and proposed as building blocks for nanoelectronic technology. READ MORE
