  1. 1. Neck injuries in rear impacts : Dummy neck development, dummy evaluation and test condition specifications

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Astrid Linder; [2001]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Neck; Injury; Anthropometric dummy; Severity; Impact test; Rear end collision; Seat; Mathematical model; Velocity; Thesis; Optimization; Mathematical neck models; Rear impact tests; Biomechanics; Road: Components of the vehicle; Road: Components of the vehicle;

    Abstract : The objective of the work underlying this thesis was firstly to develop a neck for a new rear impact dummy, to evaluate the complete dummy and to specify test conditions for a consumer test with attention to AIS 1 neck injuries in rear impacts. In the development of the dummy neck, a mathematical neck model was developed and evaluated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Early rheumatoid arthritis aspects of severity and co-morbidity

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå Universitet

    Author : Lena Innala; Umeå universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Early rheumatoid arthriti; ACPA; cardiovascular co-morbidity; age at onset; pharmacological therapy; severity; disease activity; co-morbidity;

    Abstract : Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic progressive destructive joint disease with an increased risk for co-morbidity and premature death if untreated. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of death but also other co-morbid conditions contribute to the patient’s shorter life expectancy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Severity of illness versus severity of disease : definitions and applications

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköpings universitet

    Author : Rosimary Almeida; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [1996]

    Abstract : Outcome assessment should consist of two basic steps - "selection of a meaningful outcome" and "determination of what caused the outcome". The latter step requires comparisons, and therefore information about the initial status of the patients. READ MORE
