  1. 1. Transducers for impact force and mechanical impedance based on strain measurement

    Author : Karl-Gustaf Sundin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Transducers for impact force and mechanical point impedance are studied. In both cases the transducers are based on resistive strain measurement. Two prototypes of impact force transducers based on different concepts of mean strain measurement are developed and tested. The results are satisfactory and show that the suggested concepts are suitable. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the small strain stiffness of some Scandinavian clays and impact on deep excavation

    Author : Tara Wood; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soft clay; small strain stiffness; degradation; seismic testing; sample quality;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the results of a comprehensive study on the small strain stiffness of several Swedish clays and its tentative effect on the design of retaining structures. A combination of field measurement techniques, seismic dilatometer and surface seismics, are complemented with bender element testing of the retrieved samples. READ MORE

  3. 3. Durability of Embedded Fibre Optic Sensors in Composites

    Author : Klas Levin; KTH; []
    Keywords : composites; fibre optic sensor; embedded EFPI sensor; bragg grating sensor; durability. Fatique; impact strain measurement;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns various aspects of the durability offibre optic sensors embedded in composite. Since repair orreplacement of embedded sensors is not generally possible, thefunctional reliability of embedded sensors is one of the mostimportant prerequisites for successful use. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cardiac function in hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis : an echocardiographic study

    Author : Sandra Arvidsson; Per Lindqvist; Eva Nylander; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amyloid; echocardiography; ECG; HCM; fibril type; strain; ATTR; cardiomyopathy; speckle tracking;

    Abstract : Background: Hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR) is a lethal disease in which misfolded transthyretin (TTR) proteins accumulate as insoluble aggregates in tissues throughout the body. A common mutation is the exchange of valine to methionine at place 30 (TTR V30M), a form endemically found in the northern parts of Sweden. READ MORE

  5. 5. Numerical predictions and measurement of non-isothermal airflows : evaluation of buoyant wall jets and airflow through large openings

    Author : Tobias Törnström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : How can we attain a good indoor climate and at the same time reduce energy consumption? These issues are of particular interest in countries with cold climates, where the need for heating is large. It is important to design a HV AC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system that achieves a desirable indoor climate, where discomfort due to draft and thermal discomfort is avoided.
