  1. 1. Aspects of oral implant technology and osseointegration

    Author : Rainde Naiara Rezende de Jesus; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biomaterials; oral implants; surface topography; surface roughness; surface energy; surface wettability; hydrophilicity; macrogeometry; implant body; thread design; surgical protocol; oversized drilling; osseointegration; bone-to-implant contact; bone density; primary implant stability; insertion torque; removal torque; removal energy; connection stiffness; osteoclasts; RAW264.7 cells; gene expression;

    Abstract : Behandling med käkbensförankrade tandimplantat är en vanlig metod för att ersätta förlorade tänder hos helt och partiellt tandlösa patienter. Trots att implantatbehandling uppvisar en långsiktigt hög lyckande- och överlevnadsfrekvens (90–95% efter 10 år) så förekommer implantatförluster och marginal benförlust kring implantaten under det första året efter insättning och/eller belastning, vilket kan försämra det estetiska resultatet. 2. 2. The synergistic role of hierarchical macro- and mesoporous implant surface and microscopic view of enhanced osseointegration

    Author : Guang Han; Zhijian Shen; Anders Palmqvist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Porosity; cell adhesion; cell proliferation; surface topography; implant; bone-implant interface; argon ion beam polishing; osteogenesis; osseointegration; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : The trend for designing of a titanium implant explored using different chemical compositions and crystallinity materials until people realized that the implant surface character was another important factor affecting the rate and extent of osseointegartion. Titanium received a macroporous titania surface layer by anodization, which contains open pores with average pore diameter around 5μm. READ MORE

  3. 3. On dental implant failure and patient-related factors

    Author : Malin Olsson Malm; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dental implants; implant failure; long term; implant surface; multivariable logistic regression; case-control study; edentulous jaw; gene expression analysis; early implant failure; patient factors;

    Abstract : Dental implants function as anchorage for dental prostheses. In a small number of cases, osseointegration fails to establish or be maintained around the implants, but the reasons for these failures are not yet fully understood. READ MORE

  4. 4. Healing of endosseous implants with different surface characteristics in grafted and non-grafted bone : clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Måns Jungner; Stefan Lundgren; Malou Hultcrantz; Carina Lundqvist; Peter Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; surface characteristics; bone graft; maxillary sinus; implant survival; oxidized surface; turned surface; sinus membrane elevation; bone formation; macrophages; osteocalcin; osteopontin; CD68; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Aims: This study uses radiological and clinical evaluations of the healing of endosseous titanium implants presented with different surface characteristics in the clinical situation (paper I-III) and experimentally to describe the early bone healing in maxillary sinus membrane elevation with and without the use of grafting material (paper IV).Material and methods: In paper I, 136 patients were treated with 394 dental implants – 199 were oxidized titanium implants (Nobel Biocare TiUnite) and 195 were turned titanium surface implants (Nobel Biocare Mark III). 5. 5. Decontamination of implant surfaces

    Author : Yuki Ichioka; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implant; peri-implantitis; surface decontamination;

    Abstract : Peri-implantitis is a pathological condition occurring in tissues around dental implants. It is caused by microorganisms and characterized by inflammation in the peri-implant connective tissue and progressive loss of supporting bone. The goal of treatment of peri-implantitis is to resolve inflammation and to arrest further loss of supporting bone. READ MORE
