  1. 1. Bone grafts and dental implants in the reconstruction of the severely atrophied, edentulous maxilla

    Author : Björn Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; dental implants; maxilla; grafted bone; implant failure; clinical study; computed tomography; cutting torque; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; plastikkirurgi; Plastic Surgery;

    Abstract : In two prospective, clinical studies the stability of implants and prosthetic constructions were evaluated after three years of loading. In the first study, the implant and the bridge stability of 39 patients with 1-stage bone grafts, were compared to a reference-group of 37 patients who did not need bone grafts. READ MORE

  2. 2. On factors influencing the outcome of various methods using endosseous implants for reconstruction of the atrophic edentulous and partially dentate maxilla

    Author : Jonas Becktor; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : dental implants; grafted bone; maxilla; clinical follow-up; zygomatic implants;

    Abstract : Surgical reconstruction of the severely resorbed edentulous maxilla often requires a combination of bone grafts and dental implants. Different methods have been used during the years where donor site, type of bone graft, healing period, timing of implant placement and implant surface have varied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aspects of maxillary sinus reconstruction with endosseous implants

    Author : John Eric Blomqvist; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Odontologi; Odontology; stomatology; sinus inlay bone augmentation.; osteomorphometry; osteometry; maxillary sinus reconstruction; maxilla; bone graft; Alveolar bone loss; dental implants; implant position; bone;

    Abstract : This study of maxillary sinus reconstruction in conjunction with insertion of endosseous implants included 99 patients. Two separate surgical methods were applied; a one-staged strategy (n=49) and a two-staged strategy (n=50). The aims were to compare two different strategies concerning implant and prosthetic construction survival. READ MORE

  4. 4. Clinical and experimental studies of bone substitutes and dental implants in compromised bone sites

    Author : Amela Trbakovic; Andreas Thor; Patricia Hedenqvist; Christer Dahlin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : clinical follow-up; calcium phosphates; rabbit model; sinus lift; radius model; in vivo; bisphosphonates; narrow diameter implants; dental implants; Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; Käkkirurgi;

    Abstract : Background: With an ageing population, an increase of more challenging implant treatments is expected. In this thesis, we evaluate the outcome of two faster implant protocols, in patients with compromised alveolar bone. READ MORE

  5. 5. On healing of titanium implants in iliac crest bone grafts

    Author : Mats Sjöström; Stefan Lundgren; Lars Sennerby; Christian Lindqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; Edentulous atrophic maxilla; Autogenous bone graft; Endosteal implants; Microimplants; Resonance frequency analysis; Implant survival; Graft volume changes; Kirurgi; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Bone grafts and titanium implants are commonly used for surgical/prosthetic rehabilitation of the atrophic edentulous maxilla. The factors which influence bone graft healing and implant integration are not sufficiently understood. READ MORE
