  1. 1. Fine and Ultrafine Particles from Combustion Sources - Investigations with In-situ Techniques

    Author : Joakim Pagels; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pollution control; Environmental technology; Teknik; Technological sciences; Indoor Air; In-Situ Measurement; Biomass Combustion; Morphology; Hygroscopic Growth; Volatility; TDMA; APS; ELPI; Respiratory Deposition; Fine Particles; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Ultrafine Particles;

    Abstract : Fine airborne particles are associated with adverse health effects in the human population. The aim of this research was to develop and evaluate methods for in-situ characterisation of fine and ultrafine particles and to determine their deposition in the human airways. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of Multi-Dimensional Laser Techniques for In-situ Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Jenny Nygren; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser Diagnsotics; Visualisation; Laser technology; Laserteknik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Combustion; Temperature; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Nygren;

    Abstract : Multi-dimensional, laser-based measurements of quantities important for obtaining a better understanding of combustion processes, particularly of temperature and of species distributions, were performed using laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The main purpose of the temperature experiments was to investigate the potential of employing a two-line atomic fluorescence technique (TLAF), using indium as the tracer species, in sooting environments such as in diesel engines. 3. 3. X-Ray Diagnostics in Combustion - Study of Particle Formation in Flames Using Combined Small- and Wide-Angle X-Ray Scattering

    Author : Linda Vallenhag; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoparticles; soot particles; WAXS; X-ray scattering; SAXS; combustion; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Vallenhag;

    Abstract : In the thesis work, two X-ray scattering techniques, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) were combined to study particle formation in-situ and non-intrusively in ethylene laboratory flames. Combining these two techniques enabled information concerning the size and concentration as well as the subnanometer structure of the nanoparticles within the 1–100 nm range there to be obtained. 4. 4. Laser-Based Investigations of Combustion Phenomena in Gas Turbine Related Burners

    Author : Arman Subash; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Combustion; Gas turbine; Chemiluminescence; laser-based techniques; LIF; PIV; DLE; TARS; CH4; H2; OH; CH20; Equivalence ratio; flame stabilization; LBO; Flashback; RPL; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Subash;

    Abstract : Experiments were performed on various combustion devices to investigate the flames employing different optical measurement techniques under atmospheric pressure conditions. Non-intrusive laser-based techniques provided in-situ information concerning different parameters of the combustion process, with a high degree of temporal and spatial resolution. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chemistry of Combustion Products Investigation of Combustion Chamber Deposits Formed in a Gasoline Direct Injection Stratified Charge SI Engine

    Author : Farshid Owrang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gasoline fuels; SI engine; gasoline direct injection; stratified charge; combustion chamber deposits; engine oil; oxidation; in situ measurement; thermal desorption; GC MS; fast neutron activation analysis; spin-lattice relaxation constant; NMR;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to characterize deposits formed in the combustion chambers of a gasoline direct injection stratified charge SI engine. The engine was run with several types of gasoline fuels and a special reference engine oil. READ MORE
