  1. 1. NMR Studies of Inclusion Compounds

    Author : Sahar Nikkhou Aski; Jozef Kowalewski; Pierre Mutzenhardt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR; 13C spin relaxation; PFGNMR; Kinetics; Correlation time; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the application of some of the NMR methods in studying host-guest complexes, mainly in solution. The general focus of the work is on investigating the reorientational dynamics of some small molecules that are bound inside cavities of larger moieties. READ MORE

  2. 2. Magnetic properties of transition metal compounds and superlattices

    Author : Arvid Broddefalk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Magnetic order; magnetocrystalline anisotropy; interlayer exchange coupling; transition metal compounds; superlattices; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : Magnetic properties of selected compounds and superlattices have been experimentally studied using SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) and VSM (vibrating sample magnetometer) magnetometry, neutron diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy measurements combined with theoretical ab initio calculations. The magnetic compounds (Fe1-xMx)3P, M=Co or Mn have been studied extensively. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular recognition in the solid state : crystal structure studies of selected inclusion compounds of host molecules with roof-shaped skeleton

    Author : Olga Helmle; Janusz Lipkowski; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : This survey presents the results of single-crystal X-ray diffraction investigations of nine selected organic heteromolecular complexes in terms of the molecular recognition concept. The host molecules of the studied inclusion compounds have the 9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene moiety in common, to which various sensor groups possessing both proton donor and acceptor abilities are attached. 4. 4. Thermal transport in van der Waals Solids and Inorganic Clathrates from first-principles calculations

    Author : Daniel Lindroth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phonons; Boltzmann transport theory; layered compounds; thermal conductivity; van der Waals solids; clathrates; electronic structure calculations;

    Abstract : Energy management is arguably one of the defining challenges for our modern societies. An ever-increasing demand for energy has to be balanced with the requirement for a sustainable energy economy that minimizes the human impact on the environment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quantum Chemical Modeling of Phosphoesterase Mimics and Chemistry in Confined Spaces

    Author : Henrik Daver; Fahmi Himo; Gregori Ujaque; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; density functional theory; catalysis; phosphoester hydrolysis; transesterification; supramolecular chemistry; inclusion complex; host-guest chemistry; cycloaddition; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis, density functional theory is employed in the study of two kinds of systems that can be considered to be biomimetic in their own ways. First, three binuclear metal complexes, synthesized by the group of Prof. Ebbe Nordlander, have been investigated. READ MORE
