  1. 1. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Natural Language Processing in Context

    Author : Lovisa Hagström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NLP; Knowledge representation; Neural network; Vision-and-language models; Grounding; BERT;

    Abstract : Modern NLP models learn language from lexical co-occurrences. While this method has allowed for significant breakthroughs, it has also exposed potential limitations of modern NLP methods. For example, NLP models are prone to hallucinate, represent a biased world view and may learn spurious correlations to solve the data instead of the task at hand. READ MORE

  2. 2. When, Where and What : The Development of Perceived Spatio-Temporal Continuity

    Author : Olga Kochukhova; Claes Von Hofsten; Richard Aslin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Psychology; infants; occlusion; incomplete visual information; saccadic gaze shifts; smooth pursuit; temporal; spatial; object representation; learning; extrapolation; Psykologi;

    Abstract : This thesis explored the development of infants’ ability to preserve spatio-temporal continuity of moving objects in situations where they disappeared completely (Study I & II) or partially (Study III) behind other objects (occluders). We recorded infants gaze direction with the help of two different techniques: 1) infants’ gaze shifts in Study I were measured with electro-oculogram (EOG) in combination with a motion analyzing system (Qualisys) that recorded the reflected infrared light from markers placed on the infant’s head and the moving object; 2) in Studies II and III a cornea reflection eye tracker was used (Tobii 1750) . 3. 3. Mind off driving: Effects of cognitive load on driver glance behaviour and response times

    Author : Emma Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cognitive load; visual behaviour; lead vehicle braking; traffic safety; distraction; response times; driver behaviour; intersections;

    Abstract : Introduction: Safe driving requires drivers to look at relevant information in the traffic environment and react in time in case a critical event arises. Concerns exist that cognitively loading tasks might interfere with drivers’ abilities to do this. READ MORE

  4. 4. Data-Driven Classification in Road Networks

    Author : Oliver Stromann; Zahra Gharaee; Alireza Razavi; Michael Felsberg; John Folkesson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) are an emerging trend in the transport sector and their impact on transportation, the economy, society and the environment will be tremendous. Much like the automobile shaped the way humans travelled, lived and worked during the 20th century, CAVs have yet again the potential to affect and reform all of these areas. READ MORE

  5. 5. Enhancing geometric maps through environmental interactions

    Author : Sergio Caccamo; Danica Kragic; Petter Ögren; Robin Murphy; KTH; []
    Keywords : Gaussian Processes Robotics UGV Active perception geometric maps; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : The deployment of rescue robots in real operations is becoming increasingly commonthanks to recent advances in AI technologies and high performance hardware. Rescue robots can now operate for extended period of time, cover wider areas andprocess larger amounts of sensory information making them considerably more usefulduring real life threatening situations, including both natural or man-made disasters.
