  1. 1. Laminar-flow Liquid-to-air Heat Exchangers - Energy-efficient Display Cabinet Applications

    Author : Caroline Haglund Stignor; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy-efficiency; indirect cooling; display cabinet; pressure drop; heat transfer; flat-tube heat exchanger; cooling coil; laminar;

    Abstract : Provisions are stored and displayed in supermarkets and grocery stores, at a temperature lower than the ambient, in display cabinets, which are responsible for a significant amount of the energy use in this sector. During the 1990s, major changes in the regulations governing the use of synthetic refrigerants took place in Sweden. READ MORE

  2. 2. Load Shifting and Storage of Cooling Energy through Ice Bank or Ice Slurry Systems : modelling and experimental analysis

    Author : Marino Grozdek; Per Gunnar Lundqvist; Michael Kauffeld; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; refrigeration systems; cool thermal energy storage system; ice; modelling; simulation; field measurement; experiment; indirect system; ice-on-coil system; external melt; ice slurry; homogeneous storage; heterogeneous storage; Thermal energy engineering; Termisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Ice based Cool Thermal Energy Storage (CTES) systems have attracted much attention during last few decades. The reasons are mainly of economical and environmental nature. READ MORE

  3. 3. Thermophysical Properties of Aqueous Solutions Used as Secondary Working Fluids

    Author : Åke Melinder; Björn Palm; Antero Aittomäki; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Secondary working fluids; secondary refrigerants; indirect systems; aqueous solutions; ice slurry; thermophysical properties; freezing point; density; viscosity; specific heat; thermal conductivity; Mechanical and thermal engineering; Mekanisk och termisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Secondary working fluids (secondary refrigerants, heat transfer fluids, antifreezes, brines) have long been used in various indirect re-frigeration and heat pump systems. Aqueous solutions (water solu-tions) have long been used as single phase (liquid only) secondary working fluids for cooling in supermarkets, ice rinks, heat recovery systems, heat pumps and other applications. 4. 4. Studies of Volcanic Influence on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate

    Author : Johan Friberg; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lowermost stratosphere; volcanic aerosol; upper troposphere; sulfurous aerosol; carbonaceous aerosol; ion beam analysis; volcanism; indirect effect; radiative forcing; direct effect; Stratosphere; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Friberg;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the influence of volcanism on the compositions of the aerosols in the upper troposphere (UT) and lowermost stratosphere (LMS), and their direct and indirect impact on climate. Aerosol data were obtained by aircraft-borne sampling, using the CARIBIC (Civil Aircraft for the Regular Investigation of the Atmosphere Based on an Instrument Container) platform, and laboratory-based ion beam analysis of aerosol samples at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis Facility (LIBAF). 5. 5. Thermal Design of Electrical Machines - Investigation and Evaluation of Cooling Performances

    Author : Zhe Huang; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This Thesis focuses on thermal design of permanent magnet synchronous electrical machines (PMSM) used in hybrid vehicles (HEVs) or zero emission vehicles (ZEVs). Electrical machines in such applications are usually designed with high power density requirements but within limited spaces, which lead to high rate of heat generation but low rate of heat dissipation.
