1. Income, Energy Taxation, and the Environment : An Econometric analysis
Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers: two of them deal with the relationship between consumption, energy taxation, and emissions on macro level, and two of them focuses on the effects of changes in consumption and income on the environmental quality on a micro level. The main objective of paper [I] is to examine how exogenous technological progress, in terms of an increase in energy efficiency, affects consumption choice by Swedish households and thereby emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx). 2. HCCI Combustion - Engine Operation and Emission Characteristics
Abstract : The potential and limitations of the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine concept has been experimentally investigated. The operation range, in terms of usable air/fuel ratio and engine load, and the emission characteristics have been studied. An 1. READ MORE

3. Biogas production from a systems analytical perspective
Abstract : Anaerobic digestion and the production of biogas can provide an efficient means of meeting several objectives concerning energy, environmental and waste management policy. Interest in biogas is increasing, and new facilities are being built. READ MORE

4. Indirect measurements for control and diagnostics of IC engines
Abstract : The combustion process in internal combustion engines determines engine power, fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and combustion noise. Measurement and analysis of in-cylinder pressure plays an important role in the improvement and optimization of engine performance. READ MORE

5. Land use GHG emissions and mitigation options, simulated by CoupModel
Abstract : Climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are one of the major challenges to the humankind of 21st Century. This thesis focuses on understanding, estimating and suggesting mitigation of the GHG emissions (mainly N2O and CO2) from the land use sector, specifically from forest ecosystems on drained peatlands but also from willow production on agricultural clay soil.
