  1. 6. Frame Analysis in Environmental Conflicts : The case of ethanol production in Brazil

    Author : Ester Galli; Ronald Wennersten; Tom Dwyer; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Brazil; biodiversity; biofuel; CO2 emissions; environmental conflict; ethanol; frame; frame analysis; land use change; sugarcane; sugarcane cutters; sustainable energy;

    Abstract : Governments and policy-makers are currently dealing with some key issues as energy security in countries dependent on oil imports; global economic development, including increased food production; and controlling global climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. The perception that biofuel could solve these challenges simultaneously has led to the implementation of policy and regulatory mechanisms on the mandatory use of biofuels, resulting in a sharp increase in biofuel production and consumption. 2. 7. Color Screening in QCD and Neutrinos from Singlino Dark Matter

    Author : Dominik Werder; Gunnar Ingelman; Rikard Enberg; Roman Pasechnik; Hannes Jung; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QCD; Diffraction; SCI; Dark Matter; Singlino; NMSSM; Indirect Detection; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : Hard diffraction in proton collisions, where the initial state proton emerges from the interaction rather undisturbed despite a hard interaction scale, has been studied for a few decades. First observed in proton-proton collisions, the phenomenon is seen as well in deep inelastic electron-proton scattering (DIS) as a leading final state proton and a rapidity gap-region without final state particles. 3. 8. Vibration based diagnostics for analysis of combustion properties and noise emissions of IC engines

    Author : Grover Zurita Villarroel; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk akustik; Engineering Acoustics;

    Abstract : The major challenge in engine diagnostics, monitoring and optimisation is to maintain competitive fuel economy, refinement and specific power while at the same time keeping noise and exhaust emissions at acceptable levels. This requires development and integration of fuel delivery, combustion and after-treatment systems. READ MORE

  4. 9. Indirect gasification production of biomethane for use in heavy-duty state-of-the-art gas engines

    Author : Alberto Alamia; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; well-to-wheel; biomethane; gas engines; SNG; DFB gasifier; process simulation; dual fuel; Biomass gasification;

    Abstract : The climate targets set for the European transport sector have stimulated intensiveresearch by groups in academia, the energy industry, and vehicle manufacturing in theGothenburg region into biomethane production via indirect gasification of lignocellulosebiomass and the development of advanced gas engine technologies.This work presents the results of a comprehensive study of biomethane production andutilization in heavy duty engines. 5. 10. Corporate and city GHG inventories : Impact on global CO2 emissionswhen considering electricity and CHP-based district heating

    Author : Lena Nordenstam; Björn Karlsson; Louise Ödlund; Danica Djuric Ilic; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : One initiative to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions involves developing standards for GHG inventories. Companies and cities (regions) can use GHG inventories to compile and report their GHG emissions. READ MORE
