  1. 1. C–H and Si–H functionalization using redox-active diazo compounds and decarboxylative coupling

    Author : Rajdip Chowdhury; Abraham Mendoza; Darren Dixon; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbenes; radicals; redox-active esters; indoles; carboxylic acids; silanes; photochemistry; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is based on two basic organic chemistry concepts: carbene catalysis and radical coupling reactions. Diazo compounds in the presence of transition-metal catalysts are known to be excellent reagents for the construction of C–X bonds (X = C, Si, N, O, etc.) under mild conditions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Organomolybdenum Complexes in Organic Synthesis- New methods for the Preparation of Cationic Diene Complexes and Applications to Synthesis

    Author : Emelie Bjurling; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; indoles; carbenium ions; hexafluoroisopropanol; hydride abstraction; molybdenum; cationic diene complexes;

    Abstract : Indolyl substituted pyranyl- and cyclohexenyl molybdenum complexes were synthesised through stereoselective nucleophilic addition of indoles to the corresponding cationic 2H-pyran or cyclohexadiene molybdenum complex. Decomplexation of an allylic molybdneum complex by treatment with iodine gave 1-(4-iodo-2-cyclohexenyl)-1H-indole-3-carbonitrile in high regio-selectivity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cyanoacetylation of indoles, pyrroles and amines, and synthetic uses of these products

    Author : Johnny Slätt; Jan Bergman; David Erlinge; Tomas Hedner; Michael Begtrup; Södertörns högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Indole; pyrrole; reduction; oxidation; indoline; acylation; cyanoacetylation;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on an organic synthetic project aimed towards development of small molecules acting on the P2 receptor as well as development of synthetic methods to such molecules (primarily indoles and featuring isatogens in particular). The new methodology includes cyanoacetylation of indoles, pyrroles, amines, and enamines using cyanoacetic acid in acetic anhydride. READ MORE

  4. 4. Synthesis of indoles, bisindoles and indolocarbazoles : high affinity aryl hydrocarbon receptor ligands

    Author : Niklas Wahlström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Indole; bisindoles; carbazole; indolocarbazole; indolo[3; 2-b]carbazole; ICZ; FICZ; alkaloid; metabolite; tropolone; caulersin; aryl hydrocarbon receptor; Ali receptor; X-ray crystallography; Lewis acid; acylation; Vilsmeier reaction.;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the synthesis and reactions of indoles, bisindoles, indolocarbazoles and their derivatives. New methods for ring formation of planar, heterocyclic quinones, with the indolo[3,2b]carbazole or indolo[2,3-b]carbazole structures are described. READ MORE

  5. 5. Application of metalation reactions for synthesis of sulfur/selenium-containing heterocyclic compounds

    Author : Hamid Shirani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Heterocycles; indoles; 3- arylthio indoles; thiopyranobisindoles; dibenzothiepins; 3; 3′-dithiobisindoles; alkaloids; echinosulfone A; cyclization; ortho-metalation; McMurry coupling; sulfides; sulfones and disulfides;

    Abstract : This thesis deals mainly with the synthesis of various sulfur/selenium-containing heterocyclic compounds, many of which include structural features present in several biologically active molecules, with particular emphasis on compounds of synthetic importance, such as indoles, as well as other heteroaromatic species. In the first part, an efficient procedure toward synthesis of new 3-(arylthio)indoles based on reactions of aryl Grignard reagents or lithiated heteroaromatics with protected 3,3′-dithiobisindoles is described.
