  1. 1. Moisture Buffering in the Indoor Environment

    Author : Kaisa Svennberg; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; furniture; textiles; moisture buffering; beds; indoor air; indoor environment; sorption isotherms; field measurements; definition scheme; Technological sciences;

    Abstract : Moisture buffering in the indoor environment is the ability, through absorption and desorption, of surface materials to attenuate the moisture variations of the indoor air. Moisture buffering plays an important role in understanding the risks for biological growth in surface materials in the indoor environment, e.g. READ MORE

  2. 2. Indoor Navigation for Mobile Robots : Control and Representations

    Author : Philipp Althaus; KTH; []
    Keywords : mobile robots; robot navigation; indoor navigation; behaviour based robotics; hybrid deliberative systems; dynamical systems approach; topological maps; symbol anchoring; autonomous mapping; human-robot interaction;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with various aspects of indoor navigationfor mobile robots. For a system that moves around in ahousehold or office environment,two major problems must betackled. First, an appropriate control scheme has to bedesigned in order to navigate the platform. Second, the form ofrepresentations of the environment must be chosen. READ MORE

  3. 3. Oxidation of terpenes in indoor environments : A study of influencing factors

    Author : Linda Pommer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone O3 ; Nitrogen dioxide NO2 ; Nitrogen oxide NO ; Relative humidity RH ; Modelling; Scrubber; Experimental design; Interaction; Volatile organic compounds VOC ; Sick buildings syndrome SBS ; Principal component analysis PCA ; Indoor air; Ventilation; Tenax TA; Sodium sulphite; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis the oxidation of monoterpenes by O3 and NO2 and factors that influenced the oxidation were studied. In the environment both ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are present as oxidising gases, which causes sampling artefacts when using Tenax TA as an adsorbent to sample organic compounds in the air. 4. 4. INDOOR NOISE FROM URBAN RAILBOUND TRANSPORT

    Author : SIGMUND OLAFSEN; Teknisk akustik; []
    Keywords : Tramway noise; acoustics; Indoor noise;

    Abstract : Methods for determination of indoor noise and vibrations from urban rail bound transport are presented in this work. Both measurement methods and empirical prediction methods are described. The data and results are taken from field measurements of noise and vibrations from the trams and metro trains of Oslo. 5. 5. Low-energy buildings : energy use, indoor climate and market diffusion

    Author : Johannes Persson; Stefan Grönkvist; Svend Svendsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building energy simulations; energy efficiency gap; energy use; indoor climate; low-energy buildings;

    Abstract : Low-energy buildings have, in recent years, gained attention and moved towards a large-scale introduction in the residential sector. During this process, national and international criteria for energy use in buildings have become stricter and the European Union has through the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive imposed on member states to adapt their building regulations for ‘Nearly Zero Energy Buildings’, which by 2021 should be standard for new buildings.
