1. Thermal Modelling of Small Cage Induction Motors
Abstract : The loadability of electric machines is above all determined by temperature limits. In this work, thermal network models, suitable for totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) induction motors, are used to predict the machine temperatures. READ MORE

2. On Fault Detection, Diagnosis and Monitoring for Induction Motors
Abstract : In this thesis, multiple methods and different approaches have been established and evaluated successfully, in order to detect and diagnose the faults of induction motors (IMs). The aim of this thesis is to present novel fault detection and isolation methods for the case of induction machines that would have the merit to be implemented online and being characterized by specific novel capabilities, when compared with the existing techniques. 3. On Inter-bar Currents in Induction Motors with Cast Aluminium and Cast Copper Rotors
Abstract : This thesis presents a study of the effects of inter-bar currents on inductionmotor starting performance and stray-load losses. The work is focused on theperformance differences between aluminium and copper casted rotors.A method to predict the stator current when starting direct-on-line isdeveloped. READ MORE

4. An Interactive Traction Motors Design and Selection Software
Abstract : Use of electric motors in vehicle traction, in fact, predates the internal combustion engines (ICEs). Electric vehicles powered by dc motors were known as far back as 1890. Compared with vehicles powered by ICEs, the main drawback of the early electric vehicles was, and still is, their limited range and long recharging time. READ MORE

5. Analysis and Reduction of Parasitic Effects in Induction Motors With Die-Cast Rotors
Abstract : This thesis presents a study of inter-bar current effects on induction motors with die-cast aluminium and die-cast copper rotors. The parasitic effects introduced by these currents are analyzed and possible solutions to these problems are presented. This is realized by developing analytical tools for the simulation of inter-bar current effects. READ MORE
