    Abstract : Biochar – the carbon rich residue derived from biomass pyrolysis – is recognised as a potential solution to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, while simultaneously delivering socio-environmental benefits through biochar use as a material. Perceived as a sustainable innovation, biochar has raised interest throughout the world. READ MORE

  2. 2. Emissions from realistic operation of residential wood pellets heating systems

    Author : Kaung Myat Win; Rebei Bel Fdhila; Tomas Persson; Erik Dahlquist; Henrik Thunman; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood pellet; Heating; Combustion; boiler; stove; emissions; particulate matter; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik; SWX-Energi; Integrerade system för sol och biobränsle;

    Abstract : Emissions from residential combustion appliances vary significantly depending on the firing behaviours and combustion conditions, in addition to combustion technologies and fuel quality. Although wood pellet combustion in residential heating boilers is efficient, the combustion conditions during start-up and stop phases are not optimal and produce significantly high emissions such as carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon from incomplete combustion. 3. 3. Pyrolysis of Biodegradable Waste for Negative Carbon Emissions

    Author : Shule Wang; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Chunfei Wu; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pyrolysis; Organic fraction of municipal solid waste OFMSW ; Anaerobic digestion; Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage BECCS ; Methane production; 热解,市政污泥,消化物,碳负排放,生物降解垃圾,甲烷,生物能源与碳捕获和储存; pyrolys; slam; rötrester; negative kolemissioner; biologiskt nedbrytbart avfall; metan; BECCS; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage represents a crucial technology that enables an energy production with negative carbon emissions, which is needed to achieve global climate goals. Appropriated management of biodegradable waste, including biodegradable lignocellulosic waste, sewage sludge, organic fraction of municipal solid waste, can make this contribution. READ MORE

  4. 4. Monitoring of product variants in biopharmaceutical downstream processing : Mechanistic and data-driven modeling approaches

    Author : Patricia Roch; Carl-Fredrik Mandenius; Gunnar Hörnsten; Franciscus van der Berg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : During the manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals, a multistep purification strategy is employed to remove process-related impurities and product variants, to achieve high product quality, assuring patients’ safety. To guarantee that biopharmaceuticals are safe and to accomplish quality, strict policies were established by regulatory agencies as well as guiding principles, such as Quality by Design and process analytical technology. 5. 5. Optical remote sensing of industrial gas emission fluxes

    Author : John Johansson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical remote sensing; DOAS; gas emission; absorption spectroscopy; VOC; flux measurement; solar occultation; FTIR; formaldehyde;

    Abstract : Mobile optical remote sensing techniques offer promising possibilities to quantify and geographically attribute local industrial gaseous emissions to the atmosphere. Studies have repeatedly shown that such emissions are often poorly understood, underestimated, and thereby not properly accounted for in emission inventories and regional atmospheric chemistry models, especially for emissions of VOCs.
