  1. 1. Partial carbon capture – an opportunity to decarbonize primary steelmaking

    Author : Max Biermann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; excess heat; amine absorption; partial CO2 capture; process industry; cost estimation; CCS; steel making;

    Abstract : Climate change requires that all energy-related sectors drastically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). To have a high likelihood of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, large-scale mitigation of GHG has to start being implemented and cause emissions to fall well before Year 2030. READ MORE

  2. 2. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry

    Author : Erik A. A. Nilsson; Marta-Lena Antti; Ragnar Tegman; Jan-Erik Svensson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; Grate-Kiln; microstructure; corrosion; as-casted; thermal cycling; erosion; deposition; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 3. 3. Shaping Future Opportunities for Biomass Gasification - The Role of Integration

    Author : Johan Ahlström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydrogen; heat integration; Gasification; sawmill; SNG; power-to-gas; Biomethane; Biorefinery; process integration;

    Abstract : A considerable number of studies indicate that biofuels produced from lignocellulosic biomass will most probably play a significant role in achieving the climate goals stated in the Paris agreement. Several candidate technologies could be implemented to produce these fuels, and one of the most promising is thermal gasification. READ MORE

  4. 4. Partial CO2 capture to facilitate cost-efficient deployment of carbon capture and storage in process industries - Deliberations on process design, heat integration, and carbon allocation

    Author : Max Biermann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbon allocation; Partial CO2 capture; process industry; techno-economic assessment; CCS; heat recovery; amine absorption;

    Abstract : Climate change requires that all energy-related sectors reduce drastically their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, at a global rate of 1–2 GtCO2 per year, starting now. Process industries, such as the iron and steel, cement, petrochemical, and oil-refining industries, are inherently carbon-intensive, and carbon capture and storage (CCS) is one of the few options available to achieve the required deep reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. 5. 5. Process integration in the steel industry : possibilities to analyse energy use and environmental impacts for an integrated steel mill

    Author : Mikael Larsson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : There is a growing awareness of serious problems associated with the use of energy. These problems include local and global environmental degradation associated with energy use and depletion of resources. READ MORE
