  1. 6. Algal-Bacterial Photobioreactors for the Degradation of Toxic Organic Pollutants

    Author : Raul Munoz; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; symbiosis.; nutrient removal; heavy metals removal; Algal-bacterial systems photobioreactors; toxic organic pollutants;

    Abstract : The aerobic biodegradation of toxic organic volatile contaminants is always limited by the low aqueous solubility of O2. Therefore, intensive bubbling or surface aeration is required to supply the bacterial community with sufficient O2 to carry out pollutant mineralization. This can cause the hazardous volatilization of toxic volatile contaminants. READ MORE

  2. 7. Industrial Symbiosis in the Swedish Forest Industry

    Author : Anna Wolf; Mats Söderström; Magnus Karlsson; René van Berkel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; forest industry; integration; industrial symbiosis; evaluation; human dimensions; MIND method; skogsindustri; integration; industriell symbios; utvärdering; implementering; MIND-metoden; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Forskningen som presenteras i denna avhandling anknyter till forskningsfältet Industriell Ekologi och då särskilt den gren som kallas Industriell Symbios (IS). Inom IS förordas att ett företag kan öka produktionen och samtidigt minska resursanvändningen genom att effektivt integrera energi och materialflöden i ett större system. READ MORE

  3. 8. Industrial Symbiosis for the development of Biofuel Production

    Author : Michael Martin; Mats Eklund; Thomas Budde-Christensen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biofuel; industrial symbiosis; biogas; ethanol; biodiesel; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : In recent years the popularity of biofuels has been transformed from a sustainable option fortransportation to a questionable and criticized method. Many reports have therefore beenproduced to view biofuel production from a life cycle perspective; though results may bemisleading. READ MORE

  4. 9. Industrial Ecology Methods within Engagement Processes for Industrial Resource Management

    Author : Graham Aid; Nils Brandt; Maria Malmström; Enell Magnus; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Resource Management; Recycling; Stakeholder Participation; Industrial Symbiosis; Construction and Demolition;

    Abstract : The global use of resources such as materials, energy, and water has surpassed sustainable levels by many accounts.  The research presented here was explicitly normative in its aim to improve the understanding of, and make sustainable change toward highly systemic issues of resource management.
