  1. 1. The Role of Zinc in Leishmaniasis and Tuberculosis

    Author : Miguel Guzman; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : Cutaneous leishmaniasis; tuberculosis; zinc supplementation; lymphocytes; cell proliferation; INF-γ; CD4 CD8 ratio;

    Abstract : The synergistic relation between nutritional deficiency and infection may have negative effects on the immune system, making individuals more vulnerable to infection. Zinc can affect the resistance to infections by modulating cytokine release, and by acting as a cofactor of thymulin, which induces the differentiation of immature T lymphocytes. READ MORE

  2. 2. A weak space-time formulation for the linear stochastic heat equation

    Author : Matteo Molteni; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inf-sup theory; Stochastic heat equation; Petrov-Galerkin; Finite element; Crank-Nicolson; Quasi-optimality; Finite element;

    Abstract : The topic covered in this thesis is the introduction of a new formulation for the linear stochastic heat equation driven by additive noise, based on the space-time variational formulation for its deterministic counterpart. Having a variational formulation allows the use of the so called inf-sup theory in order to obtain results of existence and uniqueness in a relatively simple way. READ MORE

  3. 3. Linear Parameter-Varying Systems - an approach to gain scheduling

    Author : Fredrik Bruzelius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; linear parameter-varying systems; linear matrix inequalities; h-inf control; gain scheduling; nonlinear L2 l2 control;

    Abstract : In recent years the interest for gain scheduling methods has increased. Gain scheduling is a collection of methods that try to tackle the challenging problem of nonlinear control in a divide and conquer manner. The use of local linear system theory to obtain a non-local controller is the fundament of the gain scheduling methods. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mesoporous material systems for catalysis and drug delivery

    Author : Aylin Atakan; Magnus Odén; Cristina Canal; Petra de Jongh; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Hybrid material systems possess multi-functional properties which make them intriguing for the materials science community since very early dates. However, it is not straightforward to produce such material systems. A smart and efficient approach is necessary to extract the desired properties of each component under the desired conditions.
