  1. 1. Inflammation and prostate carcinogenesis : influence of immune characteristics and early-adulthood exposure to inflammatory conditions on prostate cancer risk

    Author : Henrik Ugge; Katja Fall; Sabina Davidsson; Jessica Carlsson; Ove Andrén; Lars Henningsohn; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; inflammation; Cutibacterium acnes; acne; appendicitis; cytokines; circulating; inflammation marker; IL6; CXCL8;

    Abstract : Chronic inflammation has been implicated in the development of several types of cancer, and evidence from observational and animal studies suggests that it may play a role also in prostate carcinogenesis. Recent observations have brought Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) forward as a possible causative agent in pro-oncogenic prostatic inflammation. READ MORE

  2. 2. S100A9 in inflammation

    Author : Zhifei He; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; S100A9; inflammation; oxyclozanide; CD14;

    Abstract : S100A9 is a small (13 kD) cytosolic calcium-binding protein. The protein is mainly expressed in neutrophils and monocytes in human but can also be expressed in other cell types under inflammatory conditions. S100A9 is normally co-expressed with S100A8 and forms S100A8/S100A9 heterodimers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Inflammation in atherosclerosis

    Author : Ken Jatta; Allan Sirsjö; Michael D. Menger; Örebro universitet; []

    Abstract : Consequences of atherosclerosis may result in a number of diseases of the cardiovascular system that represent serious health problems and major causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Although it is initially considered as disease of fibro-lipid and thrombus deposition in the arterial wall, it also involves an ongoing inflammatory response. READ MORE

  4. 4. Subacromial inflammation : Clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Carsten Hoe-Hansen; Andris Kreicbergs; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Shoulder pain and disability are common clinical problems. One major cause is subacromial inflammation and impingement of the supraspinatus tendon. These patients are usually offered conservative treatment or arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASD). READ MORE

    Abstract : Dietary fat quality influences the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. A low-grade inflammation is suggested to contribute to the disease development, often accompanied by obesity. Whereas n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been considered anti-inflammatory, n-6 PUFA have been proposed to act pro-inflammatory. READ MORE
