1. Influence of microstructure on debonding at the fiber/matrix interface in fiber-reinforced polymers under tensile loading
Abstract : At the end of the second decade of the XXI century, the transportation industry at large faces several challenges that will shape its evolution in the next decade and beyond. The first such challenge is the increasing public awareness and governmental action on climate change, which are increasing the pressure on the industrial sectors responsible for the greatest share of emissions, the transportation industry being one of them, to reduce their environmental footprint. 2. A new high-order method for direct numerical simulations of turbulent wall-bounded flows
Abstract : A new method to perform direct numerical simulations of wall-bounded flows has been developed and implemented. The method uses high-order compact finite differences in wall-normal (for channel flow) or radial direction (for pipe flow) on a collocated grid, which gives high-accuracy results without the effectfof filtering caused by frequent interpolation as required on a staggered grid. 3. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks
Abstract : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method. 4. Methods and techniques for precise and accurate in-duct aero-acoustic measurements : Application to the area expansion
Abstract : During the design and commissioning of combustion equipment, combustion associated instabilities are commonly encountered. These thermo-acoustic instabilities can cause undesirable noise, vibrations, local thermal and mechanical stresses in the combustor and are prominent in lean combustion. READ MORE

5. Silver Alumina Catalysts for Lean NOx Reduction - Influence of Preparation Methods and Type of Reductant, with Transient Kinetic Modelling
Abstract : The objective of this work was to compare three different preparation methods for silver alumina catalysts for lean NOx reduction. Characteristics such as catalytic activity with propene and n-octane as reductants, chemical state of the silver and silver dispersion were analyzed. READ MORE
