  1. 6. Thermal physics of asteroids

    Author : Johan S. V. Lagerros; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astronomy; asteroids; infrared emission; thermophysical models; Astronomi; Astronomy and astrophysics; Astronomi och astrofysik; astronomi; Astronomy;

    Abstract : The thermal infrared and microwave emission from asteroids have many applications. Fundamental physical properties can be investigated, which have implications for the geophysical evolution of the asteroids, and the early history of the solar system.A new thermophysical model of asteroids is presented. 2. 7. Type-II interband quantum dot photodetectors

    Author : Oscar Gustafsson; Mattias Hammar; Wenquan Ma; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; photodetector; quantum dot; infrared; MOVPE; thermal imaging; type-II; photoluminescence; III V; InSb; InGaSb; InAs; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : Photon detectors based on single-crystalline materials are of great interest for high performance imaging applications due to their low noise and fast response. The major detector materials for sensing in the long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) band (8-14 µm) are currently HgCdTe (MCT) and AlGaAs/GaAs quantum wells (QW) used in intraband-based quantum-well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs). 3. 8. Water–fat separation in magnetic resonance imaging and its application in studies of brown adipose tissue

    Author : Jonathan Andersson; Joel Kullberg; Håkan Ahlström; Mark Lubberink; Kerstin Lagerstrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; brown adipose tissue; magnetic resonance imaging; water–fat signal separation; graph-cut; positron emission tomography; 18F-fludeoxyglucose; infrared thermography; machine learning; artificial neural networks; deep learning; convolutional neural networks; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Virtually all the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) signal of a human originates from water and fat molecules. By utilizing the property chemical shift the signal can be separated, creating water- and fat-only images. READ MORE

  4. 9. Circumstellar dust emission from nearby Solar-type stars

    Author : Joachim Wiegert; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stars: binaries - Stars: circumstellar matter - Infrared: stars - Infrared: planetary systems - Submillimeter: stars;

    Abstract : Far-infrared excess above the photosphere of a star indicates the presence of a circumstellar dust disc which is a sign-post for extrasolar planets, and was first detected in the mid 1980s. Dust discs are intricately connected to planets and planetesimals, give insights in the dynamics and evolution of the system, and are also useful for future exoplanet-observations. READ MORE

  5. 10. Studies of Charge Transport and Energy Level in Solar Cells Based on Polymer/Fullerene Bulk Heterojunction

    Author : Abay Gadisa; Olle Inganäs; Vladimir Dyakonov; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bulk heterojunction; Charge transport; Space charge limited; Bipolar transport; Origin of open circuit voltage; Polymer-fullerene blend; Soft contact lamination; Polarized infrared emission; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : π-Conjugated polymers have attracted considerable attention since they are potential candidates for various opto-electronic devices such as solar cells, light emitting iodes, photodiodes, and transistors. Electronic de vices based on conjugated polymers can be easily processed at low temperature using inexpensive technologies. READ MORE
