  1. 1. Crystallization of the superconducting phase in unconventional superconductors

    Author : Patric Holmvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pattern formation; spontaneous symmetry breaking; Andreev bound states; mesoscopic superconductivity; phase crystals; thin superconducting films; phase transitions; non-local Ginzburg-Landau theory; time-reversal symmetry; flat bands; unconventional superconductivity; quasiclassical theory; translational symmetry; cuprates; inhomogeneous superconductivity;

    Abstract : Superconductivity is a macroscopic quantum phenomenon, in the sense that a macroscopic number of electrons form a pair condensate, that occupies a single ground state. The electrons in this state are phase-coherent, breaking global U (1)-symmetry, and spatial variations of the phase imply superflows that usually cost kinetic energy, resulting in a uniform and rigid phase. 2. 2. Numerical solutions to non-linear inhomogeneous problems in Superconductivity : From sphalerons to multi-band boundary states and spontaneous magnetic fields

    Author : Andrea Ludovico Benfenati; Egor Babaev; Sedrakyan Tigran; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis is a compilation of theoretical works focused on simulating and studying open questions regarding single and multiband superconductivity. In the last decades, with the discovery of multiband superconductors, the spectrum of potential applications has greatly widened. 3. 3. On the Properties of Some Strongly Correlated Systems - Analytical and Numerical Studies

    Author : Jurij Smakov; KTH; []
    Keywords : mean field theory; magnetic multilayers; Curie temperature; compensation temperature; scanning tunneling microscopy; tunneling; superconductivity; local density of states; Josephson effect; tunneling Hamiltonian formalism; impurities in superconducto;

    Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to analytical and numerical studiesof a few models of strongly correlated systems and thedevelopment of techniques for such studies. The common name"strongly correlated" refers to systems in which theinteractions (correlations) between the constituent particleslead to nontrivial properties, such as various types ofmagnetism, superconductivity, and exotic phases. 4. 4. Novel Phenomena in Superconductors and Superfluids: Boundary States, Spiral Magnetic Fields, and Solitons

    Author : Albert Samoilenka; Egor Babaev; Max Metlitskii; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical Physics; Teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis presents a comprehensive study of superconducting and superfluid states in a variety of physical systems.The research is based on 12 papers that explore different phenomena in-depth.One of the significant contributions of the thesis is the discovery of boundary states in superconductors.
