  1. 1. Safety promotion and injury surveillance with special focus on young people´s club sports : Challenges and possibilities

    Author : Stefan Backe; Staffan Janson; Toomas Timpka; Ragnar Andersson; Marie Hasselberg; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Climbing injury; Injury surveillance; Sport safety policies; Safety inspections; Self-reported health; Sport injury.; Public Health Science; Folkhälsovetenskap;

    Abstract : Physical activity in youth has many benefits, but parallel to these benefits, sport related injuries pose considerable risks.  It is important to public health to address sport related injuries, particularly those affecting young people, who comprise the majority of participants in organised sport in Sweden. 2. 2. Sensorimotor function following anterior cruciate ligament injury : movement control, proprioception and neuropsychological perspectives

    Author : Adam Grinberg; Charlotte Häger; Martin Björklund; Dario G. Liebermann; Clare Ardern; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ACL; knee injury; sensorimotor control; proprioception; functional test; fear; anxiety; kinematics; electromyography; EMG; electroencephalography; EEG; brain; neuroplasticity; injury prevention; Sports Medicine; idrottsmedicin;

    Abstract : Background: The high incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in sports suggests an involvement of both biomechanical and neurocognitive risk factors. Athletes are constantly exposed to challenging sports scenarios, which are often characterised by high-intensity movements combined with a multi-stimuli environment and continuous psychological pressure. 3. 3. Serious occupational injuries by "accidents" : possible means of prevention and injury mitigation

    Author : Torgny Jarl; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Occupational; accident; injury; prevention; personal safety equipment; emergency action; commercial vehicles;

    Abstract : An analysis of the circumstances preceding severe occupational injuries as a consequence of impacts has shown that well-known risks are of great importance in 75 per cent of the cases. This indicates that the subjective cause "neglect" is common. The negligence is distributed to the same extent among employers as among employees. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modelling and inference of relative collision safety in cars

    Author : Anna Vadeby; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Collision; Mathematical model; Head on collision; Injury; Risk; Car; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 85 Road: Personal injuries; 85 Road: Personal injuries;

    Abstract : We propose a new mathematical model for relative collision safety in cars. Our present research is restricted to head-on crashes between two cars and we try to determine how much of the injury risk in a crash that depends on car model. The relative risks include the driver populations of the different car models. READ MORE
