6. Development and evaluation of methods for control and modelling of multiple-input multiple-output systems
Abstract : In control, a common type of system is the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the same input may affect multiple outputs, or conversely, the same output is affected by multiple inputs. In this thesis two methods for controlling MIMO systems are examined, namely linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control and decentralized control, and some of the difficulties associated with them. 7. Estimation and optimal input design in sparse models
Abstract : Sparse parameter estimation is an important aspect of system identification, as it allows for reducing the order of a model, and also some models in system identification inherently exhibit sparsity in their parameters. The accuracy of the estimated sparse model depends directly on the performance of the sparse estimation methods. READ MORE

8. Indirect System Identification for Unknown Input Problems : With Applications to Ships
Abstract : System identification is used in engineering sciences to build mathematical models from data. A common issue in system identification problems is that the true inputs to the system are not fully known. In this thesis, existing approaches to unknown input problems are classified and some of their properties are analyzed. READ MORE

9. System identification with input uncertainties : an EM kernel-based approach
Abstract : Many classical problems in system identification, such as the classical predictionerror method and regularized system identification, identification of Hammersteinand cascaded systems, blind system identification, as well as errors-in-variablesproblems and estimation with missing data, can be seen as particular instancesof the general problem of the identification of systems with limited information. In this thesis, we introduce a framework for the identification of linear dynamicalsystems subject to inputs that are not perfectly known. 10. The Acquisition of Russian in a Language Contact Situation : A Case Study of a Bilingual Child in Sweden
Abstract : This case study investigates the acquisition of Russian in a language contact situation. It examines a simultaneous Swedish-Russian bilingual child born and raised in Sweden. Qualitative analysis is provided from age 1;4 to 8;5 focusing especially on the earliest stages (before the end of the critical period at 4;5). READ MORE
