  1. 1. Input Calibration, Code Validation and Surrogate Model Development for Analysis of Two-phase Circulation Instability and Core Relocation Phenomena

    Author : Viet-Anh Phung; Pavel Kudinov; Cristophe Demaziere; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Reactor system code; input calibration; code validation; surrogate model; two-phase circulation flow instability; in-vessel core relocation; genetic algorithm; artificial neural network; Reaktorsystemkod; indata kalibrering; kodvalidering; surrogatmodell; två-fas cirkulationsflöde; instabilitet; härdrelokering i reaktortanken; genetisk algoritm; artificiella neurala nätverk; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Code validation and uncertainty quantification are important tasks in nuclear reactor safety analysis. Code users have to deal with large number of uncertain parameters, complex multi-physics, multi-dimensional and multi-scale phenomena. READ MORE

  2. 2. Treatment Decision after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury, and Evaluation of Measurement Properties of a Patient Reported Outcome Measure

    Author : Hanna Tigerstrand Grevnerts; Joanna Kvist; Sofi Sonesson; Håkan Gauffin; Clare Ardern; Eva Ageberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anterior cruciate ligament injury; ACL; ACL reconstruction; ACLR; choice of treatment; IKDC; measurement properties; evaluation;

    Abstract : Background: After an ACL injury, treatment aims to restore knee function. Evaluation of treatment progress is important, and adequate measurement methods are necessary. The International Knee Documentation Committee- Subjective Knee Form (IKDC-SKF) is a common patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) used after ACL injury. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fronts and instabilities in laser ablation, organic semiconductors and quantum media

    Author : Mikhail Modestov; Vitaly Bychkov; Mattias Marklund; Tito Mendonca; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; front; instability; deflagration; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The concept of a front plays a decisive role in various elds in physics and beyond. In the present thesis we study key aspects of front dynamics and stability in the context of laser plasmas, organic semiconductors and quantum media. READ MORE

  4. 4. Models of porous, elastic and rigid materials in moving fluids

    Author : Ugis Lacis; Shervin Bagheri; Fredrik Lundell; Lakshminarayanan Mahadevan; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid-structure-interaction; flow control; passive appendages; homogenization; poroelastic coatings; separated flows; surface-fluid interface; fluid-struktur-interaktion; flödeskontroll; passiva utväxter; homogenisering; ytbeläggning; separerade strömning; ytbeläggning-strömning gränssnitt; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Tails, fins, scales, and surface coatings are used by organisms for various tasks, including locomotion. Since millions of years of evolution have passed, we expect that the design of surface structures is optimal for the tasks of the organism. These structures serve as an inspiration in this thesis to identify new mechanisms for flow control. READ MORE

  5. 5. Generation of magnetic fields in plasmas

    Author : Nitin Shukla; Gert Brodin; Dusan Jovanovic; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Relativistic and non-relativistic plasma outflows are quite ubiquitous in astrophysical scenarios, as well as in laboratory plasmas. The propagation of relativistic and non- relativistic charged particle beams in background plasmas provides return currents in the opposite direction and interactions between the currents then drive several plasma instabilities involving the longitudinal (electrostatic instabilities) and trans- verse (electromagnetic instability) modes.
