    Abstract : This study explored Swedish upper secondary school students’ use of programming for mathematical purposes. The aim of the study was to investigate the process through which students learn how to use a programming environment as a technical artefact during mathematical problem solving and how the orchestration of such learning situations could facilitate this process. 2. 2. Designing for the integration of dynamic software environments in the teaching of mathematics

    Author : Maria Fahlgren; Kenneth Ruthven; Arne Engström; Birgit Pepin; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; design research; dynamic mathematics software; intrumental orchestration; mathematics education; task design; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the challenge of integrating dynamic software environments into the teaching of mathematics. It investigates particular aspects of the design of tasks which employ this type of computer-based system, with a focus on improvement, both of the tasks themselves and of the design process through which they are developed and refined. 3. 3. Dead-Ice Under Different Climate Conditions: Processes, Landforms, Sediments and Melt Rates in Iceland and Svalbard

    Author : Anders Schomacker; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; klimatologi; glacier; dead-ice; surge; ice-cored; Little Ice Age; fysisk geografi; Geologi; Geology; Svalbard; Iceland; Sedimentology; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Sedimentologi; Physical geography; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; climatology;

    Abstract : Modern dead-ice environments in the glacier forefields of Brúarjökull, Iceland and Holmströmbreen, Svalbard were investigated with focus on landform and sediment genesis, as well as quantification of melting. Field monitoring and studies of multi-temporal aerial photographs, satellite imagery, and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) provided data for the melting quantification. READ MORE
