  1. 11. The impression technique for assessment of tissue oedema : instrumentation, evaluation and applications

    Author : Olof Lindahl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medical Engineering for Healthcare;

    Abstract : An instrument for clinical noninvasive assessment of tissue oedema based on an impression method was developed. The method measures and evaluates the decaying force, due to translocation of tissue fluid, during mechanical compression of any site of tissue. We applied the impression method on physical models, animal models, and patients. READ MORE

  2. 12. Aspects of the ATLAS ITk Inner Tracker development for the high luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider

    Author : Jonas Steentoft; Richard Brenner; Rebeca Gonzalez Suarez; Matti Kalliokoski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS ITk; Detector instrumentation; Applied physics; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : The High Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), necessitates that the ATLAS experiment replace their current Inner Detector (ID) system. The new Inner Tracker (ITk) will be an all silicon detector, utilising both pixel and strip sensors, with the aim of performing as well, or better than the current system - but in a much more challenging environment. 3. 13. Compact Soft X-Ray Microscopy : Sources, Optics and Instrumentation

    Author : Per Takman; Hans Hertz; Janos Kirz; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soft x-ray microscopy; water window; compact; laser plasma; liquid jet; zone plate optics; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of a sub-60-nm full-period resolution compact soft x-ray microscope operating in the water-window region (2.3-4.4 nm). Soft x-ray water-window microscopy is a powerful technique for high-resolution imaging of organic materials exploiting the natural contrast mechanism between carbon and oxygen, cf. READ MORE

  4. 14. Modular textile-enabled bioimpedance system for personalized health monitoring applications

    Author : Javier Ferreira; Fernando Seoane; Kaj Lindecrantz; Orjan Grottem Martinsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; personal healthcare system; electrical bioimpedance; wearable sensors; pervasive monitoring; portable monitoring; body composition; chronic kidney disease; wireless sensor; ubiquitous; instrumentation; Technology and Health; Teknik och hälsa;

    Abstract : A growing number of factors, including costs, technological advancements, ageing populations, and medical errors, are leading industrialized countries to invest in research on alternative solutions to improve their health-care systems and increase patients’ quality of life. Personal health systems (PHS) examplify the use of information and communication technologies that enable a paradigm shift from the traditional hospital-centered healthcare delivery model toward a preventive and person-centered approach.
