  1. 1. Dynamic and quasi-stationary electrochromic response of amorphous tungsten oxide thin films : In situ combined electrochemical and optical measurements during lithium intercalation

    Author : Edgar Alonso Rojas González; Gunnar Niklasson; Aline Rougier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochromism; Optical absorption; Amorphous materials; Tungsten oxide; Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; Color impedance spectroscopy; Intercalation; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : Electrochromic (EC) materials can adjust their optical properties, reversibly, by means of an external electrical stimulus. They have relevant technological applications; for example, energy-efficient smart windows, which can adapt dynamically—according to the given environmental conditions—to control the heat and visible light fluxes between the interior and exterior of a building. 2. 2. Molecular-level controls on water and organics intercalation in layered minerals

    Author : Jerry Lindholm; Michael Holmboe; Jean-Francois Boily; Virginie Marry; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Minerals; Dynamic Vapor Sorption; montmorillonite; XRD; adsorption model; intercalation;

    Abstract : Layered minerals are naturally abundant and often display a large surface area in relation to their weight. For swelling layered minerals, most of this area is contained between the layers in the interlayer space. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular Recognition Mechanisms: Thermodynamics and Polarization Spectroscopy of DNA--Intercalator Complexes

    Author : Hans-Christian Becker; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : groove-binding; DNA; intercalation; linear dichroism; polarization spectroscopy; thermodynamics; enthalpy--entropy compensation;

    Abstract : Mechanisms for molecular recognition in DNA--intercalator complexes have been investigated by optical spectroscopy. The effect of electrical charge on binding geometry and binding thermodynamics was studied using 2,7-diazapyrene (DAP) and its N-methylated cations DAP+ and DAP2+ as model ligands. READ MORE

  4. 4. Unveiling biomacromolecule interactions-NMR and optical spectroscopy studies on ligand binding to DNA and lysozyme

    Author : Lisha Wu; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ruthenium compounds; intercalation; Hoechst 33258; CD; fluorescence; DNA; structure rearrangements.; lysozyme; NMR;

    Abstract : Studies on intercalation of bulky binuclear ruthenium compounds into DNA have attracted attention due to their slow dissociation rate and sequence selectivity. Previous results showed that dumb-bell shaped molecules of the type [μ-(bidppz)(L)4Ru2]4+, L=phenanthroline or bipyridine, bind rapidly on the surface of DNA prior to intercalation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Unveiling Mechanistic Details of Macromolecular Interactions: Structural Design and Molecular Modelling of DNA-Protein Systems in Their Active State

    Author : Anna Reymer; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; molecular modelling; intercalation; homologous recombination; DNA; ruthenium II polypyridyl compounds; human Rad51;

    Abstract : Molecular structure is fundamental for understanding mechanisms of molecular interactions. This applies not least to understanding biological function: every biological cell, whether bacterial or human, is an immensely complex system of thousands of molecules that exist in constant motion and interaction with each other.
