  1. 1. Unveiling biomacromolecule interactions-NMR and optical spectroscopy studies on ligand binding to DNA and lysozyme

    Author : Lisha Wu; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ruthenium compounds; intercalation; Hoechst 33258; CD; fluorescence; DNA; structure rearrangements.; lysozyme; NMR;

    Abstract : Studies on intercalation of bulky binuclear ruthenium compounds into DNA have attracted attention due to their slow dissociation rate and sequence selectivity. Previous results showed that dumb-bell shaped molecules of the type [μ-(bidppz)(L)4Ru2]4+, L=phenanthroline or bipyridine, bind rapidly on the surface of DNA prior to intercalation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Unveiling Mechanistic Details of Macromolecular Interactions: Structural Design and Molecular Modelling of DNA-Protein Systems in Their Active State

    Author : Anna Reymer; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular modelling; intercalation; homologous recombination; DNA; ruthenium II polypyridyl compounds; human Rad51;

    Abstract : Molecular structure is fundamental for understanding mechanisms of molecular interactions. This applies not least to understanding biological function: every biological cell, whether bacterial or human, is an immensely complex system of thousands of molecules that exist in constant motion and interaction with each other. 3. 3. DNA Interaction Dynamics of Ruthenium(II) Complexes

    Author : Fredrik Westerlund; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorescence; ruthenium; polarized spectroscopy; threading; sequence selectivity; photophysics; binding kinetics; DNA; intercalation;

    Abstract : DNA-binding of small synthetic ligands is of great importance in a number of different applications, from medicine to molecular biology. This thesis focuses on interactions between DNA and ruthenium(II) complexes, in particular the dimers [µ-bidppz(L)4Ru2]4+ (L=1,10-phenanthroline (P) or L=2,2-bipyridine (B)). READ MORE

  4. 4. Groove-binding Unsymmetrical Cyanine Dyes for DNA Applications

    Author : Maja Eriksson; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polarized spectroscopy; bacteriophage T5; cryo-transmission electron microscopy; dynamic light scattering; DNA; intercalation; cyanine dyes; groove-binding; fluorescence spectroscopy; gel electrophoresis;

    Abstract : This work focuses on interactions between DNA and a group of newly developed unsymmetrical cyanine dyes. The aim of the work was to discover fluorescent dyes that can be used in biophysical studies of natural DNA where minimum perturbation of the DNA-helix is essential, where a slow dissociation rate of the dyes is needed and where the ionic strength is an important parameter. 5. 5. Controlling function by structure-intermolecular interactions and crystal engineering with N-donor ligands

    Author : Mohamed I D M Ghazzali; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OPL; 10 phenanthroline]2 .; single crystal diffraction; intermolecular interactions; crystal engineering; Fe II coordination polymers; Schiff’s bases; porphyrins; intercalation; [ Ru tris-1;

    Abstract : In the solid state regime, crystal engineering based on non-covalent synthesis requires an intuition about the intermolecular forces that can dictate the molecular architecture. Hydrogen bonds have become an instrumental tool in the self assembly and supramolecular chemistry. READ MORE
