  2. 2. Finite element modelling of the mechanics of solid foam materials

    Author : Steven Ribeiro-Ayeh; Dan Zenkert; Andrew M. Kraynic; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering design; point-stress criterion; bi-material interface; foam; cellular sollid; micro-mechanical modelling; Konstruktionsteknik; Construction engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Failure of bi-material interfaces is studied with the aim to quantify the influence of the induced stress concentrations on the strength of the interfaces. A simple point-stress criterion, used in conjunction with finite element calculations, is evaluated to provide strength predictions for bi-material bonded joints and inserts in polymer foam. 3. 3. Simulation of robot paths and heat effects in welding

    Author : Mikael Ericsson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsteknik; Welding; Automation; robotics; Off-line programming; Robotics; Automatiska system; Production technology; control engineering; Finite Element Analysis; reglerteknik; robotteknik;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to develop a simulation tool and a method by which robot trajectories, temperature histories, residual stresses and distortion can be analysed and optimized off-line. This was performed by integrating robot simulation software with finite element analysis software. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural Composite Lithium-Ion Battery : Effect of Intercalation induced volumetric changes on micro-damage

    Author : Johanna Xu; Janis Varna; Andrejs Pupurs; Göran Lindbergh; Kenneth Runesson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera kompositmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : The quest for lighter materials and structures to reduce climate impacts in the automotive industry has paved the way for multifunctional solutions. Mass saving on a system level can be achieved by materials or structures having more than one primary function, thus reducing the number of components used. READ MORE

  5. 5. Spin transfer torques and spin dynamics in point contacts and spin-flop tunnel junctions

    Author : Alexander Konovalenko; Vladislav Korenivski; David W. Abraham; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin dynamics; spin transfer torques; point contacts; magnetization dynamics; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The first part of this thesis is an experimental study of the spin-dependent transport in magnetic point contacts. Nano-contacts are produced micromechanically, by bringing a sharpened non-magnetic (N) tip into contact with a ferromagnetic (F) film. READ MORE
