Abstract : Efforts to address environmental concerns have resulted in new regulations designed to plan the reduction of plastic and synthetic polymer usage, necessitating the search for sustainable natural alternatives with comparable cost-effectiveness and mechanical performance. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibres are one of the most affordable natural fibres that have no chemical refining in production, production have a high yield of 90-98% and TMP fibres have been demonstrated to improve the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness and toughness) of wood-polymer composites (WPCs) compared to the pure polymer. 4. 4. Structure evolution of spin-coated phase separated EC/HPC films

Author : Pierre Carmona; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

Abstract : Porous phase-separated films made of ethylcellulose (EC) and hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) are commonly used for controlled drug release. The structure of these thin films is controlling the drug transport from the core to the surrounding liquid in the stomach or intestine. However, detailed understanding of the structure evolution is lacking. READ MORE

  5. 5. (Photo)electrochemical Water Oxidation: From Catalysis to Functional Device

Author : Hao Yang; Licheng Sun; Marc Koper; KTH; []

Abstract : The key challenge within artificial photosynthesis is achieving efficient electro- or photo-driven water oxidation catalysis, a necessary process to supply the protons for the reduction reactions, thereby enabling solar fuel production. To facilitate efficient water (photo)electrolysis for solar fuel production, this thesis focuses on two aspects: 1) elucidating the O-O bond formation mechanism and developing efficient, stable, and economical water oxidation catalysts (WOCs); 2) exploring stable, low-cost, light-absorbing photoanode materials that have suitable band structures and excellent charge diffusion properties.
