  1. 1. Immuno Gene Therapy of Rat Brain Tumors with interferon-gamma transfected glioma cells

    Author : Edward Visse; Neurokirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; transplantation; serologi; Immunologi; Immunotherapy; Rat brain tumor; Interferon-gamma; isograft rejection; tumor infiltrating lymphocytes; Immunization; Immunology; serology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : Immunotherapy is a new promising approach in cancer treatment. In the future, it will hopefully offer an alternative to existing brain tumors treatments, which are unable to cure. We have established an experimental, low immunogenic, brain tumor model in the rat. READ MORE

  2. 2. Monoclonal antibodies to human interferon-α and interferon-γ : Characterization and application with focus on interferon-γ as a T cell cytokine

    Author : Gudrun Andersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : The major functions of the immune system are to combat infections and to control that normal auto-immunity does not turn into auto-aggression. Antibodies, together with T cell receptors and MHC molecules, dictates the immunological specificity. READ MORE

  3. 3. In vitro studies on the mechanisms of inhibited thyroidal iodide uptake and destructive thyroiditis as adverse effects of amiodarone and interferon-gamma

    Author : Sofia Tedelind; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : thyroid; amiodarone; interferon-gamma; iodide transport; tight junction; mitochondria; endocytosis;

    Abstract : The clinical use of the potent anti-arrhythmic drug amiodarone is limited due to adverse effects e.g. in the thyroid comprising both hypo- and hyperthyroidism. Amiodarone-induced thyroid dysfunction can occur in subjects with normal thyroid glands but also in those with an underlying thyroid abnormality resulting in an aggravation of the condition. 4. 4. Multiple Sclerosis: Studies of the Interferon system and search for infectious agents

    Author : My Bergkvist; Lund Neurologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; neuropsychology; Neurology; Axon and myelin damage; IgG; Virus; Interferon; Multiple Sclerosis; Genetic linkage;

    Abstract : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease of the central nervous system, characterized by focal inflammatory lesions with demyelination and axonal loss. It is believed that MS is an immune-mediated disorder with both genetic and environmental contributions to the pathogenesis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Effects of ionising and non-ionising radiation in cell systems and a rat model for immuno-therapy

    Author : Catrin Baureus Koch; Neurokirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Neurology; traumatology; transplantation; Surgery; orthopaedics; cell cultures; abscopal effect; serologi; Immunologi; serology; Immunology; rat tumour model; radiation therapy; radiation sterilisation; pulsed electric fields; interferon-gamma; immuno-gene therapy; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; glioblastoma multiforme;

    Abstract : The most malignant brain tumour, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), has an utterly bad prognosis. In spite of all available therapy, the mean survival time is less than a year. In the unique BRIGTT project (Brain Immuno Gene Tumour Therapy), patients at the Dept of Neurosurgery. READ MORE
