  1. 1. Colour in Enclosed Space Observation of Colour Phenomena and Development of Methods for Identification of Colour Appearance in Rooms

    Author : Monica Billger; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; identity colour; simultaneous contrast; illumination; reflections; colour; visual assessments; interiors; adaptation effects; full-scale studies; colour appearance;

    Abstract : The main problems dealt with in this thesis are (1) how colours can appear in rooms due to various colour combinations and lighting conditions, and (2) how we can identify and compare colour appearance in rooms. One aim is to demonstrate and discuss the complex problem of how certain conditions in a room affect colour appearance, and to give examples and describe the co-operation between some of the affecting factors in experimental rooms. 2. 2. Gas-sensors for Automobile Interiors

    Author : Eva-Lotta Kalman; Haugen John-Erik; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The concentration of pollutants in the car compartment air is influenced not only by neighboring vehicles, but also by pollutants originating from the car's interior trim materials. These pollutants may cause nuisance and even pose a safety risk as some condense on the windscreen and form an oily film that dims the screen. READ MORE

  3. 3. Thermal Conductivity of Materials under Conditions of Planetary Interiors

    Author : Zuzana Konôpková; Peter Lazor; Vitali Prakapenka; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; iron; high pressures-high temperatures; thermal conductivity; diamond anvil cell; laser-heating; planetary cores; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The presented thesis focuses on study of transport and thermoelastic properties of materials under conditions of planetary interiors by means of high-pressure experimental tools and finite element modeling, and their role in the dynamics and states of cores of terrestrial planets. Experiments in laser-heated diamond anvil cell (LHDAC) in combination with numerical simulations of heat transfer in DAC are shown to yield information on thermal conductivity of a pressurized sample. 4. 4. "En Minerva för vår Nord" : Lovisa Ulrika som samlare, uppdragsgivare och byggherre : [queen Lovisa Ulrika, her collections and commissions of art and architecture]

    Author : Merit Laine; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Art history; Drottningholm; Fredrikshov; Svartsjö; Lovisa Ulrika; Adolf Fredrik; Carl GustafTessin; Patronage; Collecting; Architectural History; Garden History; Chinoiserie; Portraiture; Age of Liberty; Konstvetenskap; Art; Konstvetenskap; historia; History;

    Abstract : Lovisa Ulrika's activities within the fields of art and architecture comprised extensive collectingand interior decoration, buildings and gardens at the Royal Palaces of Drottningholm, Svartsjö andFredrikshov. These are described in some detail in this study, but the main purpose is to establishher intentions and how she perceived her role as a builder, collector and patron of the arts. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the ring lemma

    Author : Jonatan Vasilis; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ring lemma; circle packing; sphere packing; Apollonian; sphere packing;

    Abstract : The sharp ring lemma states that if n ≥ 3 cyclically tangent discs with pairwise disjoint interiors are externally tangent to and surround the unit disc, then no disc has a radius below cn = (F2n-1 + F2n-2 - 1)-1 – where Fk denotes the kth Fibonacci number – and that the lower bound is attained in essentially unique Apollonian configurations. Here we give a proof by transforming the problem to a class of strip configurations, after which we closely follow a method of proof due to Aharonov and Stephenson. READ MORE
