  1. 1. Internal rotation in molecules : a nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation study

    Author : Anders Ericsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In order to study the internal rotation of methyl-type groups in molecules, the carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spin-lattice relaxation times (T1) and nuclear Overhauser enhancement factors (n) are measured for some terpenes (borneol, camphor, isopinocampheol and α-pinene), for octafluorotoluene and for 1-methylnaphtalene. In addition, deuterium NMR T1 data are presented for 1-methylnaphtalene-d10. READ MORE

  2. 2. Total internal reflection ellipsometry : principles and applications

    Author : Michal Poksinski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Spectroscopic ellipsometry has been used under conditions of total internal reflection to form a new measurement technique called Total Internal Reflection Ellipsometry. When measurement settings are appropriate for surface plasmon resonance to occur it is possible to combine the advantages of both ellipsometry and surface plasmon resonance and obtain very high sensitivity and precision. 3. 3. Total internal reflection ellipsometry

    Author : Michal Poksinski; Uwe´ Beck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes the work performed on the development and implementation of the optical measurement technique called total internal reflection ellipsometry (TIRE).The TIRE principle is based on spectroscopic ellipsometry performed under conditions of total internal reflection. 4. 4. Imaging surface plasmon resonance

    Author : Olof Andersson; Bo Liedberg; Fredrik Björefors; Thomas Ederth; Jiří Homola; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The central theme of this thesis is the use of imaging Surface Plasmon Resonance (iSPR) as a tool in the characterization of surfaces with laterally varying properties. Within the scope of this work, an instrument for iSPR analysis was designed and built. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cerebral blood flow distribution, collateral function and pulsatility in healthy and in patients with symptomatic carotid stenosis  : a magnetic resonance imaging approach

    Author : Laleh Zarrinkoob; Jan Malm; Anders Eklund; Khalid Ambarki; Sepideh Amin-Hanjani; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aging; Arterial pulsatility; Carotid stenosis; Cerebral arteries; Cerebral blood flow; Cerebral collateral blood flow; Circle of Willis; Phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging;

    Abstract : Background: For the detection and treatment of early cerebral vascular disease it is of paramount importance to first understand the normal physiology of the cerebral vasculature, and subsequently, to understand how and when pathology can develop from that. This is especially important as the population above 65 years of age is increasing and aging itself is an established risk factor for the development of cerebral vascular disease. READ MORE
