1. Intracellular processing of pre-a-inhibitor
Abstract : Pre-α-inhibitor (PαI) is a plasma protein consisting of a 25 and a 75 kDa polypeptide: bikunin and heavy chain 3 (H3), respectively. Both these polypeptides are made by hepatocytes and while passing through the Golgi complex, bikunin, which carries a chondroitin sulfate chain, becomes covalently linked to the C-terminal amino acid residue of H3 via its polysaccharide. 3. Motility of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes : An image processing approach
Abstract : Cell motility is essential for polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) function in the defense against invading microorganisms and in inflammatory processes. Using digital video microscopy and image processing, individual cells were studied during random locomotion, chemotactic locomotion and phagocytosis. READ MORE

4. Design and analysis of feedback structures in chemical plants and biochemical systems
Abstract : This thesis deals with modelling, analysis, and design of interactions between subsystems in chemical process plants and intracellular biochemical processes. In the first part, the focus is on the selection of decentralized feedback control structures for plants in the chemical process industry, with the aim of achieving a desired performance in the presence of interactions. 5. Intracellular radicals in neutrophils - processing and functional implications
Abstract : Neutrophils are the most abundant leukocyte in human blood and essential components of our defense against microbial pathogens. These cells can neutralize microbial pathogens by phagocytosis, which involves engulfment and degradation of microbes intracellularly, as well as by the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), which are structures released from neutrophils made up of DNA and proteins that capture microbes extracellularly.
