6. Superradiant THz wave emission from arrays of Josephson junctions
Abstract : High-power, continuous-wave, compact and tunable THz sources are needed for a large variety of applications. Development of power-efficient sources of electromagnetic radiation in the 0.1-10 THz range is a difficult technological problem, known as the “THz gap. READ MORE

7. Josephson Junctions: Oscillators and Broadband Spectrometers at Frequencies up to 1 THz
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to some selected applications of the Josephson junction oscillator. The initial work was performed using low-Tc Nb/PbBi tunnel junctions, while the later parts were done using the recently developed high-Tc YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) Josephson junctions. READ MORE

8. Transport Properties of Superconducting d-wave junctions
Abstract : At surfaces and interfaces of d-wave superconductors, quasiparticle bound states with zero energy, midgap states (MGS), are necessarily formed as a consequence of the sign change of the d-wave order parameter upon 90° rotation. The MGS can never exist at s-wave superconductor surfaces and are therefore true fingerprints of unconventional superconductivity. READ MORE

9. Intrinsic tunneling spectroscopic investigations of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x superconductors : The fluxon lattice, resonant phenomena,flux-flow and current doping
Abstract : In this thesis, the tunneling between individual atomic layers in structures of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x based high-temperature superconductors are experimentally studied employing the intrinsic Josephson effect. A special attention is paid on the fabrication of small mesa structures using micro and nanofabrication techniques. READ MORE

10. Confinement and resonant phenomena in small Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 mesa structures
Abstract : In this thesis, intrinsic Josephson junctions, naturally formed in the stronglyanisotropic high-temperature superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8, are studied experimentally.Small mesa structures are fabricated on the surface of singlecrystals using micro- and nano-fabrication tools, focused ion beam is used toreduce the mesa-area to ≈ 1 × 1 μm2.
