6. Geochronology of the Oklo and Bangombé fossil natural fission reactors : tracing the effects of geological events
Abstract : Thesis to be publicly defended for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, in lecture room De Geersalen, Svante Arrhenius väg 8a, Stockholm, Friday February 1, 2002 at 10.00 am. Two billion years ago, natural fission reactions took place in the Oklo and Bangombé uranium ores in Gabon, West Equatorial Africa. READ MORE

7. New tools for probing biological extremes of ionizing radiation
Abstract : Three different biological extremes of irradiation of living organisms, both human and animal, have been investigated and are presented in this thesis. Central to the thesis is the concept of bystander effects of ionizing radiation, i.e. READ MORE

8. The tectonic evolution of northwest Svalbard
Abstract : Svalbard represents the uplifted and exhumed northwest corner of the Barents Sea Shelf. Pre-Carboniferous rocks of Svalbard are divided into the Eastern, Northwestern and Southwestern Terranes, were amalgamated during the Caledonian Orogen and are separated by north-south-trending strike-slip faults. 9. The mobility of natural uranium at Forsmark, Sweden, through geologic time
Abstract : In this thesis, the response of uranium minerals and poorly crystalline phases to changes in geochemical conditions through geological time has been assessed in order to understand the mobility of natural uranium in the fracture network of a proposed site for a spent nuclear fuel repository in Forsmark, Sweden. Identification and characterization of solid phase uranium have been performed through electron microprobe analysis and optical petrography (Article I). READ MORE

10. Direct writing with an MeV proton beam: Development and Applications
Abstract : This thesis presents work aimed at the development and application of a new lithography system for direct material patterning with the MeV proton beam at the Lund Nuclear Microprobe (NMP) facility. MeV proton beams are advantageous for use as a patterning tool due to their deep and well defined penetration through matter and their highly local energy deposition. READ MORE
