1. Theoretical and Experimental Studies of the Formation of Ionized Gases in Spark Ignition Engines
Abstract : The processes that govern the formation, existence and consumption of ions in gases have been studied both experimentally and theoretically. The aim of the work is targeted at increasing the understanding of these phenomena in the working gases inside an engine. READ MORE

2. Ionization of large molecules with short laser pulses
Abstract : The decay dynamics of fullerenes and polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) after femtosecond-laser excitation have been studied experimentally by electron momentum mapping and mass spectrometry. The electron spectra of fullerenes and large PAH-molecules were found to be exponentially decreasing with energy without any distinct peaks outside the photon energy. READ MORE

3. Determining the Fate and Operational Implications of Alkalis in Chemical Looping Combustion of Biomass
Abstract : Chemical looping combustion (CLC) of biomass is a promising thermal conversion technology with integrated carbon capture. As with other fluidized bed fuel conversion processes, biomass CLC may be susceptible to issues of agglomeration, fouling and corrosion stemming from the release of alkalis during fuel conversion. 4. Energy Efficient Air Quality Solutions for Vehicle Cabins
Abstract : Maintaining a good air quality level is essential for reducing potential health risks for human beings. Vehicle cabin is one common environment where people spend increasing amount of time in modern societies. It’s an environment challenged by elevated pollutants from surrounding traffics, especially small particles like PM2. READ MORE

5. Single-photon multiple ionization processes studied by electron coincidence spectroscopy
Abstract : This thesis is based on studies of multiple ionization of atoms and molecules induced by the absorption of a single photon. For the experimental investigations a time-of-flight magnetic bottle spectrometer has been used to detect the emitted electrons in coincidence. READ MORE
