  1. 1. Biomechanics of the Human Eye and Intraocular Pressure Measurements

    Author : Darja Ljubimova; Anders Eriksson; Anders Eklund; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IOP; GAT; ocular biomechanics; corneoscleral envelope; finite element modelling; parametric analysis; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the reliability of Goldmann-type applanation tonometers (GAT). It deals with the investigation of the relation between predicted intraocular pressure, IOPG and true pressure, IOPT. READ MORE

  2. 2. Resonator sensor technique for medical use : an intraocular pressure measurement system

    Author : Anders Eklund; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sensor; Vibration; Hardness; Prostate; intraocular pressure; resonator; eye; applanation; glaucoma;

    Abstract : In the work of this doctoral dissertation a new resonator sensor technique, first presented in 1989, has been further developed and evaluated with focus on technical characteristics and applications within the medical field. In a first part a catheter-type tactile sensor using the resonator sensor technique was evaluated in a silicone model and applied to human prostate in vitro. READ MORE

  3. 3. Glaucoma Characteristics and Risk Factors - Results from Malmö Eye Survey

    Author : Kirsti Grødum; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vascular disease; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi; myopia; optic disc hemorrhages; mortality; refraction; glaucoma; population screening;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on data from a large glaucoma screening, comprising 32, 918 elderly citizens of Malmö and data from retrospective analysis of glaucoma patients’ charts from the Eye Department of Malmö University Hospital. The definition of glaucoma was based on reproducible visual field defects and/or glaucomatous optic nerve head damage in both groups. READ MORE

    Author : Katarina Hedman; Albert Alm; Adam Taube; T Joseph Sheehan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ophtalmology; mean intraocular pressure; target intraocular pressure; latanoprost; timolol; open-angle glaucoma; ocular hypertension; trial design; Oftalmiatrik; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi; Ophtalmology; oftalmiatrik;

    Abstract : Two different principles were studied. 1st - statistical analysis techniques were used to obtain medical results from a patient population. 2nd - the patient population was used to study the statistical analysis techniques. READ MORE

  5. 5. Self-monitoring av intraocular pressure and its clinical application

    Author : Laurence Quérat; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Purpose: Measuring the intraocular pressure (IOP) is one of the most common ophthalmologic examinations, especially within glaucoma management. An elevated IOP is a major risk factor for the development and progression of glaucoma, and is so far the only modifiable parameter. READ MORE
