18. Positional Cloning of Disease Causing Genes : A Genetic Study of Obesity, Ichthyosis Prematurity Syndrome and Meniere's Disease
Abstract : Positional cloning is a method to identify genes from their position in the genome without prior knowledge about function. We used this approach to investigate the basis for three distinct genetic disorders; Obesity, Ichthyosis Prematurity Syndrome and Meniere's disease. READ MORE

19. Hematopoiesis: Functional Insights by Cell Fate Conversion
Abstract : Blood cell formation, or hematopoiesis, is maintained by rare hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) residing in the bone marrow (BM). HSCs may self-renew (the process whereby HSCs replicate to produce new HSCs) to preserve their own numbers, as well as initiate a highly coordinated hierarchical differentiation process that results in the production of mature effector blood cells. 20. Modelling and strength grading of structural timber and glulam lamellae on the basis of optical scanning and dynamic excitation
Abstract : Machine strength grading of sawn timber is a sawmill process in which density, modulus of elasticity (MOE) and bending or tensile strength are predicted such that the timber can be assigned to strength classes. The predictions of these properties are performed using one or several so-called indicating properties (IPs), which represent a board property, or combination of board properties, measured non-destructively.
