  1. 1. Aerosol Measurements as Applied for Exposure Characterization

    Author : Andreas Dahl; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; railroad; indoor air; environment; occupational health; exposure; isocyanate; airborne particles; station; traffic;

    Abstract : It is important to decrease the burden of disease. This is in part achieved by decreasing risks. The aim of this thesis is to provide a methodology for the characterization of aerosol exposure, which may lead to negative health effects. READ MORE

  2. 2. Aerosols of Isocyanates, Amines and Anhydrides : Sampling and Analysis

    Author : Jakob Dahlin; Gunnar Skarping; Robert P. Streicher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; isocyanate; amine; aminoisocyanate; organic acid anhydride; denuder; impactor; impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; LC-CLND; di-n-butylamine; DBA; thermal degradation; aerosol; particles; TDI; MDI; HDI; ICA; MIC; IPDI; exposure; occupational health; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents methods for air sampling and determination of isocyanates, amines, aminoisocyanates and anhydrides. These organic compounds are generated during thermal degradation of polymers such as polyurethane (PUR) or epoxy.Isocyanates, amines and anhydrides are airway irritants known to cause occupational asthma. 3. 3. Isocyanates - methodology for gas and particle generation, sampling and detection

    Author : Daniel Gylestam; Marianne Dalene; Gunnar Skarping; Daniel Karlsson; Dhimiter Bello; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Isocyanate; PUR; Dry sampler; PTR-MS; Transfer line; PPE; Environmental Chamber; Respirable Particles; Denuder Impactor; Aerosol; Particles; Impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; di-n-butylamine; DBA; ICA; MIC; HDI; TDI; IPDI; MDI; Occupational Exposure; Exposure; Occupational Health; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Isocyanates are mainly used in the industry for the production of polyurethane (PUR) plastics. Workers are at risk of being exposed during the manufacturing of PUR. During thermal degradation of PUR, isocyanates are released and workers involved in hot work such as fire-fighting, welding etc. may also be exposed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of the Selective Catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides with Dimethyl Ether

    Author : Stefanie Tamm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gas phase reaction; isocyanate; DME; acidic zeolite; reaction mechanism; lean deNOx; NO2 formation;

    Abstract : Dimethyl ether (DME) is one of the most energy-efficient and low CO2 emitting alternative fuels when produced from biomass. Similar to other vehicles with combustion engines, vehicles running on DME will most likely need after-treatment technologies for the reduction of NOx emissions to meet the most stringent upcoming legislations. 5. 5. Biomarkers of internal exposure/dose : Methods to quantify adducts to protein and DNA by LC/MS studied with benzo[a]pyrene and isocyanates

    Author : Emelie Westberg; Margareta Törnqvist; Kimmo Peltonen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomarker; PAH; serum albumin; adduct; DNA; isocyanate; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on methods for quantification by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) of specific biomarkers for internal dose of chemicals which induce toxicity through their electrophilic reactivity. In vivo such compounds are short-lived, and could feasibly be measured as their reaction products (adducts) with biomacromolecules. READ MORE
