1. Miniaturized localized surface plasmon resonance biosensors
Abstract : Abstract Reliable and sensitive biosensors are required for fast and accurate diagnostics. Localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) in noble-metal nanoparticles possess very high refractive index sensitivity close to the metal surface and therefore constitute an attractive biosensing platform. 2. Nonlinear dynamics of strongly-bound magnetic vortex pairs
Abstract : This work is a study of nonlinear phenomena in vertically stacked pairs of magnetic vortices. New dynamic regimes are uncovered with a decrease in the inter-vortex separation to below the lateral vortex-core size. READ MORE

3. Degradation, Metabolism and Relaxation Properties of Iron Oxide Particles for Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Abstract : Whereas the effect of size and coating material on the pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of iron oxide based contrast agents are well documented, the effect of these parameters on liver metabolism has never been investigated. The primary purpose of this work was to evaluate the effect of iron oxide particle size and coating on the rate of liver clearance and particle degradation using a rat model. READ MORE

4. Dynamics of the interstellar matter in galaxies : isolated barred spiral galaxies : cloud formation processes
Abstract : The dynamical components of six isolated barred spiral (SB) galaxies are investigated. No evidence is found supporting the hypothesis of a low amount of dark matter being characteristic of SB galaxies. The presence of companion galaxies is found to correlate with an increased statistical spread in the neutral hydrogen (HI) extent. READ MORE

5. Traumatic isolated rupture of the knee medial collateral ligament : diagnosis and long term effects
Abstract : Isolated partial rupture of the knee medial collateral ligament (MCL) is the most common traumatic knee ligament injury. Owing to the good short- and medium-term functional results after conservative treatment, this injury has been regarded as harmless. READ MORE
