  1. 1. Isolation of caveolae using affinity two-phase partitioning

    Author : Parisa Abedinpour; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metabolism; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; basolateral; apical; immunoaffinity; wheat germ agglutinin; caveolin; caveolae caveolae enriched fraction; plasma membranes; rat lung; rat liver; Affinity Partitioning; two-phase partitioning;

    Abstract : The intention of this work was to establish alternative purification methods to obtain highly purified caveolae from various tissues. In order to isolate caveolae, sufficiently pure plasma membranes are needed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functions of glycoprotein G of herpes simplex virus type 2

    Author : Staffan Görander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Herpes simplex virus type 2; glycoprotein G-2; type specific serology; vaccine; Tanzania;

    Abstract : Background: Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is a common sexually transmitted infection with more than 500 million individuals infected world-wide. A major global health problem is that HSV-2 infection facilitates the spread of HIV. This epidemiological situation warrants the development of a vaccine to reduce the spread of HSV-2. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterization of p58 and rab1p, two proteins operating at the interface of the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex

    Author : Ulla Lahtinen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : protein transport; rab1p; p58; animal lectin; intermediate compartment; endoplasmic reticulum; Golgi complex;

    Abstract : Endomembranes participating in the early stages in exocytosis consist of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), the Golgi complex, and vesicular transport intermediates at their interface. These vesicular transport intermediates were first visualized by following the synchronized transport of a viral membrane protein from the ER to the Golgi complex, which occurs at slower rates at reduced temperatures causing an accumulation of transport vesicles.
