    Abstract : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). Author : Henrik Lundqvist; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; binding isotherm; isothermal titration calorimetry; differential scanning calorimetry; retrogradation; alpha-lactalbumin; beta-lactoglobulin; whey protein; surfactant; lipid; exterior chain length; barley; potato; starch; amylopectin; amylose; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Lipids; steroids; membranes; Lipider; steroider; mebran;

    Abstract : Starch is a common ingredient in many products, influencing properties such as viscosity, stability, sensory properties and appearance. These properties and how they change with time in the process called retrogradation are dependent on the structure of starch and its interaction with other components such as lipids and proteins. Abstract : The progress of human society outpaces our biological evolution, and this brings unexpected health problems. The industrial revolution brought up dramatic changes in nutrition and lifestyle – we are increasingly shifting towards a nutrient-rich Western-patterned diet and to a sedentary lifestyle. READ MORE

  5. 5. DNA-Complexes with Drugs and Proteins

    Author : Louise Fornander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Circular Dichroism; Linear Dichroism; Minor groove binder; DNA strand exchange; HsRad51; Isothermal Titration Calorimetry; Hoechst 33258;

    Abstract : DNA is fundamental for all living cells; the DNA holds the genetic code, which is more or less the instruction book for how all cells are built and function. Several diseases are also linked to DNA, emerging either from a mutation in our genome, which could result in a malfunctioning protein, or that the transcription of genes is somehow affected by structural changes in the DNA, induced by mutations or DNA binding molecules.
