  1. 1. On bone quality and implant stability measurements

    Author : Bertil Friberg; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; early failures; titanium implants; jaw bone quality; jaw bone volume; cutting torque; implant stability; resonance frequency; one-stage surgery;

    Abstract : In conjuction with placement of oral implants, the jaw bone quality assessment is mainly based on quantitative radiographic measures and the subjective opinion of the performing surgeon. While the primary implant stability is discussed in terms of the pre-set motor torque and the subjective hand-felt perception during final tightening of implants, the secondary stability is defined as the absence of implant mobility. 2. 2. An injectable biphasic bone substitute in sinus augmentation

    Author : Anna Truedsson; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dentala implantat; Dental Implants; Bone transplantation; Bone substitutes;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns a new synthetic, injectable bone substitute,Cerament™, primarily developed for treatment of vertebral fractures.The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the properties of the newbone substitute, that is, whether it can contribute to the generation ofnew bone formation needed for placement of future dental implants. 3. 3. On guided bone reformation in the maxillary sinus to enable placement and integration of endosseous implants. Clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Giovanni Cricchio; Stefan Lundgren; Lars Sennerby; Gerry Raghoebar; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : bone grafting; donor morbidity; iliac crest; dental implants; membrane elevation; maxillary sinus floor elevation;

    Abstract : Dental caries and periodontal disease are the major causes for tooth loss. While dental caries commonly involve the posterior teeth in both jaws, the teeth most commonly lost due to periodontal problems are the first and second molars in the maxilla. As a consequence, the upper posterior jaw is frequently edentulous. READ MORE

  4. 4. On dental implant failure and patient-related factors

    Author : Malin Olsson Malm; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dental implants; implant failure; long term; implant surface; multivariable logistic regression; case-control study; edentulous jaw; gene expression analysis; early implant failure; patient factors;

    Abstract : Dental implants function as anchorage for dental prostheses. In a small number of cases, osseointegration fails to establish or be maintained around the implants, but the reasons for these failures are not yet fully understood. READ MORE

  5. 5. On factors influencing the outcome of various methods using endosseous implants for reconstruction of the atrophic edentulous and partially dentate maxilla

    Author : Jonas Becktor; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : dental implants; grafted bone; maxilla; clinical follow-up; zygomatic implants;

    Abstract : Surgical reconstruction of the severely resorbed edentulous maxilla often requires a combination of bone grafts and dental implants. Different methods have been used during the years where donor site, type of bone graft, healing period, timing of implant placement and implant surface have varied. READ MORE
