  1. 1. SNAP-25 and Cdk5 as exocytotic regulators : Consequences for synaptic function and insulin release

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

    Author : Jenny Johansson; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2007]

    Abstract : The process by which cells release substances through fusion of vesicles with the plasma membrane is called exocytosis. Regulated exocytosis needs to be tightly controlled in order to respond to the large variation in stimuli and demands for release of neurotransmitters, peptides and hormones. READ MORE

  2. 2. The role of N-cadherin and S1P/S1P1 in pancreas development

    University dissertation from Lund University: Faculty of Medicine

    Author : Jenny Johansson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2010]

    Abstract : Organogenesis of epithelial organs requires interaction between epithelial and mesenchymal tissues. During pancreas development, mesenchyme-derived structures induce specification, growth and differentiation of pancreatic epithelial cells. READ MORE

  3. 3. Drivers of polymorphism dynamics in pygmy grasshoppers

    University dissertation from Växjö, Kalmar : Linnaeus University Press

    Author : Jenny Johansson; Linnéuniversitetet.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Evolutionary Biology; Evolutionsbiologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I used colour polymorphism in pygmy grasshoppers as a model system to study the influence of selection, developmental plasticity, mating behaviour and gene flow on patterns of phenotypic and genetic diversity within and among populations in changing environments.Data for more than 5,000 individuals collected from natural populations showed that the incidence of black (melanic) pygmy grasshoppers was higher in burnt than in non-burnt areas, and rapidly declined over time within populations in post-fire environments. 4. 4. The Impact of Growth Hormone and Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) on Systems Related to Cognition

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Jenny Johansson; Uppsala universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Growth Hormone; Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate; GABAB; Opioids; Insulin-like growth factor 1; Rats; Central Nervous System; Autoradiography; Radioimmunoassay; ELISA; Water Maze; Open Field; Biological Research on Drug Dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning;

    Abstract : Drug dependence is a serious and increasing problem in our society, especially among adolescents. The use of the large variety of substances available can result in a range of physiological and psychological adverse effects on individuals and negative consequences on the society overall. 5. 5. The streptococcal IgG degrading enzyme IdeS studies on host-pathogen interactions

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Jenny Johansson Söderberg; Umeå universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; streptococcus pyogenes; IdeS; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : The important human pathogen Streptococcus pyogenes causes both mild infections such as pharyngitis and impetigo but also severe life threatening invasive infections.  Specific antibodies (IgG) recognize pathogens and are important mediators for pathogen clearance by the immune defence.
